I took the hydrotherapy that was being practiced on severely mentally handicapped children who also suffered from epileptic episodes which I am unsure if it had any success in preventing epilepsy however parents did find that tantrums were less severe with repeated sessions
As far as I understand it in the early 1900s hydrotherapy was thought to be a cure for epilepsy. That was not the case and it is no longer recommended due to the risk of seizures and water inhalation or drowning. I don't know about it's use in Developmentally Disabled people, and generally can't find any information about it online, so not sure on that one.
