As far as I understand it in the early 1900s hydrotherapy was thought to be a cure for epilepsy. That was not the case and it is no longer recommended due to the risk of seizures and water inhalation or drowning. I don't know about it's use in Developmentally Disabled people, and generally can't find any information about it online, so not sure on that one.I took the hydrotherapy that was being practiced on severely mentally handicapped children who also suffered from epileptic episodes which I am unsure if it had any success in preventing epilepsy however parents did find that tantrums were less severe with repeated sessions
