Power

What is power?
In a plutocracy, power is money.
When a mayor ousts an incredible
human being and efficient overseer of
our community - is it now unreturnable?
In the election, democrats raised
unthinkable amounts of money from
small donations.
If money was power, we should have won.
A million voices can sing
in solidarity, but the song is
without power.
Perhaps it was always you and me
that little bird that flew from sea to shining sea
following leylines
to bring about change.
Although,
that bird and its flock only
are truly surviving on instinct.
So in this society, I guess power is
bending with the wind: for,
We are not birds
we are not trees
We are human beings.
Does nature require power to survive?
It leans into the cycles and finds a way to survive
and make do with the little resources
competition may take up.
Until, of course,
the spiney black and white fish
are spread into the seas they should not be.
Killing coral and terraforming the Atlantic.
Was this the issue all along?
I’ve been searching for answers where there are none?
And still,
I see the women so strongly standing up and fighting
fighting with such little power the regulatory system allows
and it inspires me.
I do not need to survive or thrive. I just need to endure and help where I can and when I can with what I have.
