Hi, I got into my group therapy thing!
I'm just so pleased because it was posed as so selective, and it was the only male survivor group around after a month's looking, and basically just thrilled after finding it to be possibly quite good, and then being accepted! The therapist seemed very good, easy to relate to, understanding, not pressuring, and not scary (and understanding of the abuse firsthand, though having had extensive therapy and groups for about two decades) Hopefully no red flags there. I think i can actually move on now quicker that i have other people to talk to about this, not just reading and family messes, and, yes, messes, not really support--though i guess these are just people too so hopefully won't have to deal with non-good relations in the group, though it is moderated by an apparently level-headed therapist. Haven't gone yet, so we'll see, but from the feeling of it seems perhaps very, very good.
I'm just pleased. But it's not starting immediately so of course i have to wait ;(:

Beginning I too started on the road to living life by attending group. A member is now a very good friend of mine. I know that you will feel at home there and just belng able to relate to someone in a safe setting is terrific.

Keep us informed ok

Congratulations! It's good that you were able to find a group. The sad fact is that with so many men who were abused in this country (and abroad for that matter), there are so few groups. I guess that it's because men feel that "stigma" and are maybe ashamed to admit what happened to anyone else?
At any rate, stick with it.... you are a very lucky man to find it.

Beginning,

I joinede a group last December. It's a great experience. Sometimes I really don't ant to go and that's when I seem to get the most out of it. It's scary but wonderful. I wish you all the best.
