Wrong place at the wrong time

Why is that when someone was the victim of a crime they are sometimes quoted as being at the wrong place at the wrong time?

I have been abused by perps in random situations and I have felt cursed, I was at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Or should it be I was at the right place at the right time and someone did wrong to me. It feels to me that by saying that the victim was at the wrong place at the wrong time it is putting the blame on the victim rather than the abuser.

There was absolutely nothing wrong with being where I was when I was abused, and nothing wrong with being there at that particular time. What was wrong is what they did to me. They are wrong.

it is a mere figure of speech. Lots of foolish things are said like that. Try not to read to much into it.

Though I will say I would give almost anything to not have opened that door at that time.

you, me, others, i think that is b.s. sometimes i think, i wish i was stronger, resisted, etc.. - i can't change the past.

we were innocent, they took advantage of us, manipulated us, we were prey for thier sick control/power/ and/or sexual needs. no wrong time for sure, it could have been just as easy for it to have not occurred for me being at the same place and same time. my abuser did it, i did it with him, but he was 19 years older than me, i was 9 1/2 to 10.

welcome to the site. i have been here now 7 months. glad i found it, you can share what you wish or p.m. others, or just read. it does help, hurts at times, but we gottta make it.

I too like many here, was in the wrong place at the wrong time. I was too small for a powerful looking man to deal with. He spared me my life, or did he? He took away my soul, my very spirit, and just left me like an empty shell. He took away my innocence and freedom to be me. Leaving a rag doll to pick up the pieces.
