Why doesn't Japan ban child porn manga?

An article from the BBC News. There is a big market in Japan, and presumably elsewhere, for cartoons portraying little kids having sex. I find the whole idea outrageous. Any thoughts?

my friends who have toured or worked in japan have been telling me about this since the 1980's. this was before the internet was popular.
the japanese anime craze was just getting started in my city.
you could find obscure VHS imports in foreign formats and stuff.
only comic and card collectors collected it and they were mostly
samurai gore and sorcery.

i kept hearing about it but i have not seen it.
although i have seen many disturbing cartoons from japan which
go far beyond the borders of bad taste,
i have never seen animated cp.

my friend just married a jgirl and moved there.
he says they sell "turupeta" porn and used panties in vending machines.

asia is not europe is not america is not canada.

Its popular in Japan and a growing business there. Why? Depravity of mankind.

Child porn is legal in some places and earns a ton. Why? Human depravity.

Child porn was "not illegal" throughout this nation well into the 1970s. Why? There are a lot of sick fks out there who get off on it. Look at child-sex-tourism today. Its big. Its popular and easy.

The simple explanation is, for every victim, there was at least one perp. There are a whole heck of a lot of victims out there. Thus, there are a sht-load of perps and other sick fks in this world.

More than "sick," I feel very sad at how popular it is. It means we are surrounded by the enemy. We are surrounded by adults who would "do a little kid" right here and now. They see us as remnants. Cigarette-butts in the ashtray. The don't see victims or survivors when they look at us. They see an opportunity missed decades ago.

We'll never fix this fkd-up humanity. Its simply not at all possible.

If anyone ever sees hard-copy of this anime child porn in the USA, please call the police and have the seller arrested or otherwise dispatched.

I look at that position/perspective as "a little beer for the raging alcoholic keeping him chill." But I may be wrong. It has happened before I hear.

BTW: Japan is not the only country that sells the cartoon crap, and there still are nations that publish the real stuff. They are ALL in the "uncivilized nation" category in my book...including Japan.

I like Neil Gaiman a lot. But he says he's never even read/watched lolicon - quite rightly, because why would any normal person be interested in it, but I don't think he should be defending something he knows nothing about. Something in which (fictional) kids are being abused. I don't know how anyone can claim that the right to free speech makes that ok.

I wanted to bring up the topic of Japanese anime in general here for a while, but I didn't know if anyone actually watched it. I wondered if it was maybe just me being overly sensitive, or reading too much into things, but I always seem to find a lot of weird inappropriate sexual stuff in it. For instance the kid in my avatar is 12 years old. (Tho he turns 13 part way through the series). There's this weird sexual tension thing between him and an adult male (though technically the adult is a demon in human form). It's not just me on this, because most of the fan art and fan fiction seems to revolve around the relationship between the two of them. People are seriously weird.... He's also made to dress as a girl a couple of times for a disguise. He's then pursued by another adult.

Recently I watched something new, the first series was an English dub, and there was nothing weird about it. Apart from psycho murderers and stuff...But the later series were Japanese with English subtitles. They were completely different. There was tons of what seemed like inappropriate sexual jokes. The characters were all 15 and younger. There were jokes about puberty and guys lusting after really young girls. In one episode the 15 year old boy is stripped naked by 4 girls, who then make fun of him. None of that ever happened in the English version. I wondered if this kind of stuff was common in Japan, and those scenes were taken out for English speaking audiences? Like maybe it's all ok and acceptable there? I maybe should just stop watching.
