When the man you love was abused...Cecil Murphey

A dear survivor has recommended this book for me ( thank you!!) and literally 20 pages in its like the author has a window into my heart and soul, its as if he's has read every question I've asked on MS - its incredible.
I quote...

"- Why does he shut me out?
- Why can't I help him?
- Why can't I take away his pain?
-Why wont he talk to me or allow me into his private world?
- How did I fail him?
- I love him and try to show him that, so why won't he trust me?"

" Because he hurts, you hurt"
" He was victimiszed by someone older and more powerful than he was..."

The author reflects survivors guidance shared here and insight into so much... this is just the intro.

I just wanted to share for my fellow supporters who may find comfort and hope in this read too.
If its ok, I feel as I work through each chapter I may find myself back here sharing insights, which hopefully will be of use as well as a space for me to process. Hope that's not too self endulgent.

Please do share all you wish to. I think it will mean a lot to me and other survivors too. I'm glad to know there is a book like that, and I suppose there could be others? It seems like I'm slowly finding out there is work about male survivors out there, but the public space is pretty devoid of it. Having a place to interact and share is very important to me, so I've hoped more work and public resources were invested toward helping the healing work.

I know it's hard for men to reveal, so what I think goes a lot toward men seeing their plight is to be in silence. The society we have too, where men don't reveal, and there's a lot of skewed ideas about mental health.

He also has another book - called "Not Quite Healed" for adult male survivors - which i have found very helpful - and a blog called "Shattering the Silence" - which has short pieces similar to the content of his book. good stuff!
