One of my Team Leaders at work recently went on maternity leave.

Last week, she gave birth to her new son. She already has a son who is around 17 years old.

I agreed to go and visit her family along with another co-worker. We went on Monday night.

I bought some baby clothes and a card.

The card was very difficult to buy, as I think most of them had been designed by people that live on milk and honey!

I found the ideal card eventually! On the front it had a photograph of an adult hand gently holding the hand of a young child. The wording indicated how we are meant to nurture and protect children! It both cut my psyche and made me smile at the same time.

When we arrived at the house TL was sat with her husband and baby. Older son was upstairs playing computer games.

He's a beautiful little baby, with jet black hair! The woman that went with me fed him from a bottle, then I got to hold him for nearly an hour! He just laid back in my arms, looking very contented, and breathing very deeply. Just a total picture of relaxed innocence.

TL opened my card, whilst I was holding him, and quickly put it down - she knows the significance!

I couldn't believe how relaxed I felt, just sitting there! For once my mind was mostly empty! It was afterwards that I wondered how anyone could ever hurt anything so precious!

I know that by stopping that one pervert, his future is a little safer! I hope that someday, it will be safe for all children!

Best wishes ...Rik

I agree wholeheartedly. "I hope that someday it will be safe for all children."What a beautiful hope.

Peace, Rik.

I'm all misty eyed again Rik. I too have that hope...

Thank-you for expressing it.

Lots of love,

John

Rik,

I like that idea as well. Even if we know we will never achieve this in our own time, we will have worked towards the goal.

Much love,
Larry

Children represent the purest form of human innocence, which makes them the target of the direst evil. We should dedicate all our efforts to protecting and nurturing our children, for they are our salvation.

I know that card too Rick and it is extremely moving. Its one of those perfect pictures that does not need any words.

Sounds like a wonderful experience. Innocence keeps coming in to the world in the form of new life. Someday the perps will not be allowed to steal it.
