Recently, the question of what did I know about sex as a 13 year old, has reared its ugly head. It seems to be triggered by seeing 12/13 year old boys in TV shows and movies. Whenever that happens, it gets to me. Especially if they are expressing an interest in girls. Should I have known better than to do what I did with my brother? I don't know, I can't seem to get away from this.

No you should not have your brother knew what he was doing and you had less experience, and was he also older?

Dont be mad at yourself he is the one that did it to you.
 
The reality of what 12/13 year old boys know about sex certainly isn't portrayed realistically on television. After all, they're acting from a script. I understand your thoughts though and in my experience from working with teens is that each one is different. I've never known any of them to be on the same level of understanding as another.

I would also add that 13 years-olds are a lot different now than they were 15 years ago. There is also a lot of other stuff going on when you are talking about an older brother. They are the ones that you are suppose to be able to trust and look up to for advice and guidance. They are suppose to look after you and protect you. I'm very sorry that this happened to you.

i didnt know the differance..when my older brother was having his way with me..i was just a child 8 or 9 ...he earley sexualized me...how was a child to know that this event would chart his whole lifes coarse....and a very destructive one at that...i see those tv programs..real or not..makes me so sad..sometimes i get tears..sometimes i get mad..i see what i missed... steve
 
Right now, life is so confusing, I'm going to my first appointment with a new therapist (I've been in and out of therapy for 2 1/2 years for this), and I hope that this one is the right one. Hopefully she will help me sort all this out.

I guess I know that 12/13 year olds aren't going to be portrayed acurately in TV and movies, but I guess its something I'm desprate to put the pieces together. I know that it wasn't my fault but for somereason I still want answers.
