I mention it because I thought maybe some of you could guess whether it is just psychological or maybe something medical I need to get checked out...

I, um... still wet the bed sometimes. :o I haven't told that to anyone before. My partner obviously has found out but he's pretty good about it.

Like a lot of kids I had this problem when I was young, but I suppose because of trauma or slow emotional development I didn't grow out of it until I was 13 or 14. I was fine for a while, then, and it never happened unless I was really drunk or something, but after I got out of prison it started happening again. Not every night, I mean, it's not like a really regular thing but it happens more than every now and then. Because of the pattern I would be inclined to think that it's psychological... but maybe there's some sort of medical problem I could have accquired?

Er... well... I hope you guys aren't laughing at me for this. :( :o

Laugh? Good lord no!

If I were you though, I'd be inclined to see a urologist. If it is psychological, you'll need to rule out the medical anyway.

I've not wet the bed for a long time but let me tell you, drinking or no I've come close a coupla times. :)

Absolutely nothing to be ashamed of guy. You're also lucky to have such an understanding partner.

Hey, SP, it's me, Doctor Dave. Getting checked out physically is a good idea. Our daughter had a similar problem and it was associated with her level of sleep. That is, she had a tonsil problem and because of her breathing difficulty, she slept deeper. Hence, she selpt through any signals that her body was emitting to let her know that she had to pee. That was the therory, anyway. She had her tonsils and adenoids taken care of and she was off to the sleep over parties.
Good luck with finding an answer, it can be a bother.....expecially when one has too many rum 'n cokes. Yes, my particular brand of setting myself up for "the leaks." Between us we could have made our own water bed.......excuse me, just my attempt at humor.
Yours in the struggle,
David

SP,
I understand what your going through, like you, I was a late bedwetter. I didnt stop wetting the bed till I was almost 15. Which gave my perp (step father) great joy every morning when he would get me up for school. At about 15 I stoped, but everyonce in while I still do. I have seen that most of the times I do it now as an adult I have had a nightmare (wish I could think of a differnt word to use that just doesnt seem hard enough) about my step father.

Now I havent seen a doctor about this problem. Just to embarassed I guess, or maybe I just figure it comes with the role of being a survivor. And to be honest never thought about it being anything but related to my abuse. I do have a son that didnt stop wetting the bed till he was 9 (not sure if this is late or not) but we did take him and the doctor told us that is was due to his levle of sleep and gave him some med's to take before bed to stop him from sleeping so heavy.

Well I guess I would have to agree, go to a doctor and find out if it's something other than being related to your abuse. If you can rule that part out then maybe it's something you can work on in therepy to over come. It's great that your partner is understanding about this for you, my wife is as well. She knows the way my step father use to tease me about it and she never says anything unless I bring it up, which I do most of the times.

Here is just one more taboo that we as adult men being survivor's of CSA have to over come. After all grown men dont wet the bed. Just like boys will be boys. Well SP, dont let it get to you, grown me sometimes do wet the bed.

Sorry if this is rambling. Just my thoughts hope they help.

James
