Welcome, newcomers!
Welcome VN, Timothy, cja, and all newcomers,
You (and your situation) are one of the reasons that MaleSurvivor came into existence and works to reach out to survivors in as many ways that we can. Therapy is almost always a key factor in healing, yet therapists, too, often struggle with how to be truly helpful yet another reason for MSs existence: to provide a network for educating, training, enlightening, and supporting therapists in their work.
This discussion forum is proving to be a first step as well as a sustaining place for many survivors. I myself had therapy in my teens and, though I disclosed the SA I experienced at age seven, that was never dealt with. It was only when I returned to therapy in 1999 that I came to deal with it and happened also to find MaleSurvivor. Fast forward six years and here I am President. The healing goes on. I just came back from visiting the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center in Atlanta and stood before his raised tomb. The inscription, which I feel applies to me and I hope to many of the men here, reads: Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Im free at last!
