Woke up at 4am to a flood of water 2 inches deep from a broken pipe Been working cleaning up and just got done but one box full of old journals got water damaged. About 30 notebook journals are wet on the bottom. They are drying out but I am wondering what I should do to prevent mood on them. They are from the late 70s and early 80s and I dont want to lose them. This was a time in my life when I was hiding from the abuse and ???? my sexuality. I think it will be important for me to go back and read them some day.

Any ideas about how to save them would be helpful. Thanks Tom
 
Dont know how to stop paper thats been wet from molding. But maybe once they dry you could scan them and save them to cd. It might stop them from getting messed up in the future. Good luck.

Thanks for the information guys. I was more lucky than I had thought on Thursday. Looks like only a few are realy damaged. maybe I can scan those .

On an aside note, I burned my journals I kept when I was in my 20's. Partially because I didn't want them laying around in case someone might read them. But more because when I went back to read them, I could no longer understand what I had written. A lot of my "conclusions" and feelings were distorted or wrong. The journals gave some insight into who I thought I was -- but had little relation to who I really was going to become.

Jeff I could think about burning them but I should read them first. Maybe now would be a good time to start burning them one at a time after reading them. Thanks Tom
