Vulnerable again
Open and trusting
Though no stranger to pain
It can all be made better
With hug and cleansing rain
But then, what did I do?
Why this new assault?
It's too bad, I won't let them
Get to the real me, not my fault
Much later, I can't stand me
Afraid and sloppy drunk
Can't remember, something was wrong
My escapes aren't working, I am sunk
And then a new day,
Self care and mind is clear,
but abuse memories erupt,
Pained recovery, peace is near
With awareness, comes caution
Trial and Error leave me guarded
Years go by, serene but lonely
Find the chance and love is started
Feeling again and somewhat open-hearted
Loving lasts and barriers fall
Sometimes slowly, sometimes quickly,
Choose to trust, down went my wall
