Just wanted to let you know how things went...
I really took to heart what you all said and it was very helpful to me. I decided to go with the card and I wrote:
"I'm sorry if I pushed you into telling me something before you were ready. But now that you have let me in, I just want you to know that I am here for you and am glad that you trust me enough to tell me something so private. Please know that I will never betray your trust and I am here to listen whenever you want to talk. I love you with all of my heart and soul--never forget that!"
I left the card by the bed so when he came home, I let him go upstairs by himself to find the card. A few minutes later, he came down with a big smile on his face and gave me a hug and said that he loved me. So I'm really glad I did that...I think maybe he was scared of what would happen to our relationship and that I would somehow think of him differently now. The lemon merangue pie I made probably helped a little too...
Thanks again to everyone. I feel much better than I did yesterday, especially after having a "normal night" after the whole disclosure. It will probably be a while before he brings it up again to me, but I hope that he does!
