Work has been very rough lately, bit of a blessing in disguise i supposed in that it takes so much mental energy to accomplish the things I need to do, that I've been exhusted. maybe I'm using work as an excuse not to have to face all the "issues?"
Well, that is another topic for another time. For now, I've been really reading the post here of you other survivors. I really do appreciate them. They help me in lots of ways.
For all of us who are in the struggle for survival, I want to offer this.
In the Clint Eastwood movie "Heartbreak Ridge", a Marine accidently misfired his weapon at the firing range, nearly striking the commanding offier.
As punishment this Marine had to run "Indian Laps". Indian Laps are where an individual must run around and around the formation as they march back to thier camp. Its an exhusting punishment. (We had a similar exercise when I played College football, it can be brutal)
Anyway, the Marine finally sucumbs and falls out totally spent, to the point of tears. The commanding officer begins to berate the Marine, belittling him and so on. Clint Eastwood's charater walks over to the Marine and whispers something into his ear. The Marine jumps up and continue Indian Laps.
The officer demands to know from Eastwood what he said.
Without batting an eye Eastwood looks at the officer and says (paraphase): "I told him, don't give the bastard the satisfaction."
So, as usual, nothing fancy from me except to say, we are survivors and we are surviving. Don't forget that. With everything that has happened to us we are here and we're not going away. When it gets tough, when its time you want to give up and give in to what ever haunts you,
Whisper this into your own ear:
"Don't give the bastrd the satisfaction!"
You are worth fighting for. Fight damm it!
Peace to all of us.

Thanks for posting this.

The timing couldn't be better for me.

I've been down on myself lately, really hung up on internalized negative messages from my abusers.

It helps me forge ahead a bit when I think of not giving them the satisfaction.

that's the only attitude to have, we have to prove to ourselves that we're not the scumbags they told us we were - and they always will be.

Being proud of ourselves and "not giving them the satisfaction" of seeing us crawling is the greatest thing we can do.

And I know that I'm not alone in thinking like you here. ;)

printer, thanks.big eastwood fan.one of my boys is named after the character in what i think was his best western.every day now as things come up,i hear it,HE IS NOT GOING TO WIN/IM THE REAL MAN/HE IS NOTHING.//////////////face

Damn right. He (they) are NOT going to win if you deprive them of that. We all have the power within us to take that way from them, all we have to do is reach inside and grab it.
