Under the weather

The past couple of weeks have been a little tough on me. A week and several days ago, I came down with a head cold. Wasn't surprised as I saw it coming. Anyway after a few days, it didn't seem to be getting better and if anything was getting worse. By last weekend, I was going down hill so I went to an "urgent care place" and in two minutes the doctor saw me and wrote two prescriptions. So I went home and took the medications he prescribed for me.
However, I continued to get worse over the next few days. I was running a temperature and just had absolutely no energy to get up and move around. My digestive system was beginning to give me all kinds of problems. I made it to work on Tuesday for a few hours and ended up coming home which then I made an appointment with my regular doctor (who isn't fully covered by my insurance - grrrr!)
Anyway I went to my doctor and he did confirm that I had bronchitis and my temperature after sitting in his cold waiting room was at 99.2. For me that is a pretty high fever because I very seldom run a temp and in fact 98.6 or 98.7 is getting high for me. He ran some tests and then gave me a shot, and some antibiotics and told me to go home and rest. No work. I could go to class but that was it.
I am feeling a little stronger today (much more than a couple of days ago) but I am still fighting the fever. Kind of feel like I've been baked to well done. So I'm taking it easy today and most likely tomorrow as I have my student clinic again on saturday and I need to be able to get there for that.
It does make me mad though that my insurance will cover these flunky doctors as I call them (the ones that set up shop inside some plywood panel walls and run their doctors office as a manufacturing plant). However my insurance will only cover my doctor after I pay a significant part out of my pocket. And yet he is an excellent doctor (one that does the xrays, blood work right there in the office). You can ask him questions and he will take time to answer them and talk with you. He is one I fully trust because when you go to him, he makes sure he does the right things to get you feeling back to normal.
My doctor was shocked at the medication the urgent care place prescribed for me because it is one of the roughest antibiotics on the system and isn't that specific for bronchitis. And in addition to it, the side effects can leave you feeling worse than before you started it. I would love to get my hands on a doctor at the urgent care place. This ain't over yet!
But at the urgent care place, they took my temp and it was 98.9 which the nurse immediately said, no temperature. I was like, excuse me! Then she asked me who my doctor was and I told her the name. She says, oh is he a jew. And I about came unglued with her because that quesiton had no place to be asked. I am not happy with this urgent care place and spent $100 on this place/medication (that is with my insurance) the other day. I just wouldn't want to see this urgent care physician or nurse right now... it might get ugly!
But anyway, feeling a little stronger today, just fighting the fever still.
