Treasures out of Darkness

My past is erased,
I can't help that no more
Memories blocked out,
To strong to ignore.

I want to remember,
Without feeling pain.
Even good memories
Couldn't remain.

My pain never leaves,
It's dormant in silence.
If I'm not careful,
Will it turn to violence?

I'm ready to run, back to it all.
But I know that it's empty avoiding the call.
I've answered the call, yet I still feel so blank.
Is my boat still floating, or has it already sank.

I'm ready to dive off the spiritual plank
Back to your arms, before it's too late
Overtaken by anguish, succumbed by grief.
We are all sinners, but I am chief.

I'm reaching for light, yet hiding in fear
I'm a treasure out of darkness
wiping my tears.

Love this part:

I'm ready to run, back to it all.

I've answered the call, yet I still feel so blank.
Is my boat still floating, or has it already sank.

Describes so much of my own experiences.

I felt every line of this poem. It's a feeling, state that I very often put myself in. Thank you for sharing it, @Oncewaslost ,it's powerful and beautiful.

That's what you are, a treasure. Don't forget that.
I like your poem technically as well, the rhythm in it, the rhyme.

I know it's stupid, but these responses from people who (I know) relate to where I was coming from makes my eyes well up with tears because the feeling behind it is being validated. I know that most people hear the words, but not the sentiment. Thank you for your response.
