Gimme Shelter
(M. Jagger/K. Richards)

Oh, a storm is threat'ning
My very life today
If I don't get some shelter
Oh yeah, I'm gonna fade away

War, children, it's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
War, children, it's just a shot away
It's just a shot away

Ooh, see the fire is sweepin'
Our very street today
Burns like a red coal carpet
Mad bull lost its way

War, children, it's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
War, children, it's just a shot away
It's just a shot away

Rape, murder!
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away

Rape, murder!
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away

Rape, murder!
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away

The floods is threat'ning
My very life today
Gimme, gimme shelter
Or I'm gonna fade away

War, children, it's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
I tell you love, sister, it's just a kiss away
It's just a kiss away
It's just a kiss away
It's just a kiss away
It's just a kiss away
Kiss away, kiss away

YOU CAN'T ALWAYS GET WHAT YOU WANT
(M. Jagger/K. Richards)

Choir:
I saw her today at a reception
A glass of wine in her hand
I knew she would meet her connection
At her feet was her footloose man

No, you can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
And if you try sometime you find
You get what you need

I saw her today at the reception
A glass of wine in her hand
I knew she was gonna meet her connection
At her feet was, footloose man

You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
But if you try sometimes, well you might find
You get what you need

Oh yea-ay (hey-hey-hey, oooh)

And I went down to the demonstration
To get my fair share of abuse
Singin', 'We're gonna vent our frustration
If we don't, we're gonna blow a 50-amp fuse'
Sing it to me, now

(You can't always get what you want)
(You can't always get what you want)
(You can't always get what you want)
But if you try sometimes, well you just might find
You get what you need
Ooh baby, yeah, ooh

I went down to the Chelsea drugstore
To get your prescription filled
I was standin' in line with Mr. Jimmy
A-man, did he look pretty ill

We decided that we would have a soda
My favorite flavor, cherry red
I sung my song to Mr. Jimmy
Yeah, and he said one word to me, and that was 'dead'
I said to him

(You can't always get what you want) well no!
(You can't always get what you want) tell ya baby
(You can't always get what you want) no
But if you try sometimes, you just might find, mmm!
Mmm! you get what you need
Ooh yes! Woo!

(Instrumental & choir) Ooow-ooh!

You get what you need
Yeah!
Ooow, babe!
Ooh, yeah

I saw her today at the reception
In her glass was a bleeding man
She was practiced at the art of deception
Well, I could tell by her blood-stained hands
Say it!

(You can't always get what you want) yeah!
(You can't always get a-what you want) ooo-yeah, baby!
(You can't always get a-what you want)
But if you try sometime, you just might find
You just might find
You get what you need

Ooh, yeah!
Ooh, baby!
Woo!

Ah, you can't always get a-what you want
No, no baby

You can't always get a-what you want
Tellin' you right now

You can't always get what you want, mmm!
But if you try sometimes you just might find
You just might find, that ya
Get what you need
Oooh, yeah!

I'm tellin' the truth, babe

Ooow-ooh!
Ooow-ooh!
Ooow-ooh!........

I was a little disappointed to hear "You can't always get what you want" being used for the new Coca Cola C2 commercials.

Oh well, they held out a long long time.

Street Fighting Man is my favorite Stones track.

But even here Im triggered - 1971

Oh yes....Ive just been watching the festival from Glastonbury and discovered a new band going by the name of The Scissor Sisters.

They do a wonderfull Bee Gees take off of Pink Floyds "Comfortably numb" seroiusly!

I liked what I heard they certainly have their own sound.

Those days of the Reading and Buxton festivals are long gone. But what days they were.

there was some good stuff at Glastonbury this year, Basement Jax, Bonnie Rait, Morrisey and Snow Patrol were my highlights.

I'm too old for it now, too much mud and not enough room service :D
I did the festivals in the early 70's though and saw some great acts at Reading.

But tonight it's Santana "Supernatural".

I haven't listened to this for ages - why ?

Dave :D

Tonight it's Buddy Guy's classic album "Sweet Tea"

Max volume, number 11 on the amp ( for thos fans of Spinal Tap ;) ) and the player's on repeat.

Buddy Guy's a genius - no argument about that.

Dave ( going deaf by degrees ) :D :D :D

Are you guys listening to Kasabian ? and if not, why not?

They're putting the rock back in rock n roll!

Bloody' ell, man! that band Kasabian IS awsome, I just checked out the site. You're right. They ROCK!

The video on their site "Reason is Treason" is sweet.

BTW, I also LOVE the Stones. I was raised on them. I remember when I was about 5, me and my brother fighting over the head phones to listen to the tape player, back in the 80's. I don't remeber which album it was. I just remmember wanting to hear "get off of my cloud" over and over again.

too many Great songs to list, But their new one "40 Licks" is pretty good which also include: "Last Time" and "She's a Rainbow," 2 awsome, but often neglected songs.

I was also futunot enough to see them Live in concert in at the RoseLand in 2002-Best concert of my life!

Anyway, Man! Take care and rock on!!!

Logan

Oh, and BTW, sorry 'bout the use of the british slang in the begining of my post. I just finished watching "Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels." There's some really catchy Cockney Slang in that Flick!

I was at home alone the other day and had 'Reason is treason' on repeat, very very loud. :D

I had this vision of the bass guitarist just standing facing the drummer and playing faster and faster, daring the drummer to keep up, and he does!

It's a class act.
