Things that make you feel okay. (triggers?)

Things that make you feel okay. (triggers?)
To make problems seems smaller:

1. Find a pole sticking out of the ground.
2. Check that a dog hasn't been by lately.
3. Lay down at the base of the pole, staring up.

You should be able to tell the Earth is spinning below you. You are one person of billions, on a spinnning rock, in the middle of the universe. Somehow, it puts things in perspective for me.

If no pole, or pole is in populated area:

Kids laughing without worrying who can hear
Beautiful objects in nature or art, or just life
The sound of your own heart beating
The sound of your child's heart beating, or someone if you have no child (pets count)
Watch a really funny movie with no point
Bees - notice how they are so focused on work
Smiling dogs can be funny
Listen to rivers flowing, or waves/waterfalls
Swim underwater quietly
Count stars at night
Consider the sound of one hand clapping

Nyjah,

I remember this cool thread from way back when! You have come so far since then. So have we all, I guess.

I saw my own list and I still agree with most of that. But here are two more that are a bit more personal:

- Waiting for my sister Cathie to show up. She could always make me giggle, no matter how bad I felt.
- Putting my hand on my best friend's chest and feeling his heart beating. That amazed me for some reason.

Much love,
Larry

OK, some of mine to add too.

Hiking in the woods, with my wife, holding hands
Cooking, and eating outdoors, it always tastes better
Singing, I'm a karaoke addict
Reading and writing on this site

I'm sure as I heal, there will be more!

Love and best wishes to you all,
Scott

Absolutely. I still have fond memories of that one too. My grandmother's kitchen was always the busiest room in her house, and man, could she ever cook! :) What's really cool is that my kids (now 23 and 19) have the same memories about MY mother's kitchen.

Much love,
Larry

getting a package in the mail that has more love in it than i ever felt before, getting a hand made coloring book from the daughter of a friend here at ms, ripping on trev !! lol

being able to smile when trev rips on me

Oh why not...

A night of cuddling with my partner (No sex, just talk)

The look in her eyes when I go pick up my daughter.

Her yelling from my ex-wifes porch "DADDY!"

My daughters little arms wrapped around my neck.

Her saying "You're the best daddy in the world"...(that one makes me bawl almost everytime, I was so afraid I would be a horrible dad since I had a horrible dad).

Her saying "I love you, Daddy"

A good cry (Normally shortly after one of the previous five statements)...weather it be about good things or bad.

Listening to music

Watching genuine friendship develop betwen two young survivors who both need genuine safe friends. ;)
