I had my second (and last) session with my first therapist today. I was directed to her through my company's Employee Assistance Program, and the company pays for 2 visits only. After that, I now have to find someone on my HMO list....and start the story all over. But it was a good experience, even just those 2 visits. I was much calmer today than I was last week during that first visit, so maybe I'm getting better at it.

Of course, the question now is: Should I continue? I've learned a lot from the those two lessons, primarily that my head is messed up - false beliefs about myself, others, etc. I'm wondering if I can ever really be changed.

I think that most of us here could benefit from more therapy then 2 sessions. If you feel better the second one then the first, it should probably help you. Good luck with finding new one.

Eddie - I received 6 sessions through my employer earlier this year (the only sessions I've ever had). It took me a couple of sessions to get going but by the 6th I thought I was starting to repeat myself quite a bit. I recognised that the sessions were of enormous benefit to me - I had a therapist that suited me.

Now I sometimes feel that I could do with the odd 'top up session', but I also have a good support network where I can iron out my niggles (including here).

I think that we vary in our needs for therapy sessions, but decide what is best for you.

*I was initially only offered 3 sessions through my employer, but they met my request to add another 3...maybe yours would too if they knew they were of benefit (it helps them if you are functioning better with a little support).

Best wishes ..Rik

I have an appointment for next Wednesday, July 14 with a new therapist.

I hate this (shopping for a T).... :(

You really should continue on the therapy, it can really help and be very enlightening. You can be changed, I don't mean that to make it sound simple, you can change how your mind works and what you believe, it just takes hard workand persistance. Good luck at finding another good therapist.
