I wish I could remember the details (and any of the British brothers who know about this, please chime in with 'em - they're important), but I heard a news story this morning about the current state of British attitudes regarding victims of sexual violence. They were geared toward female survivors, and I'm sad to say that the public attitude toward rape, if I heard this right, aren't encouraging.
The majority of British people surveyed believed that "flirts" (cockteasers, whatever you want to call them
) get raped more than non-flirts ("good girls")
The majority also believes that victims who are dressed "provocatively" or are drunk get raped more.
Sterile words, but last I checked, it shouldn't matter if a woman is a "flirt," or drunk, or dressed like a tart. Rape is rape, and victims are victims.
Tell this to the children or old people who are raped. was Grandma wearing a sexy bathrobe when the f*****g nursing home attendant raped her in her bed?
Was the old guy recently in Mass. "leading on" his roommate, who even though was ancient, was a registered sex offender, when he orally raped him?
Is the eight year old dressed "provocatively" when her uncle fondled her?
This was a reminder that the struggle continues even for female victims. The world STILL has not the first clue about men who have to come forward and face this crap!
