I sent this email this afternoon to a national newspaper, I will let you know what happens.
It is a well respected newspaper, so I hope they respond favourably.

I have a letter that has been painfully written by two boys, one aged 14, and the other 16. The letter focuses on the awareness of sexual abuse.

It is well written, and a lot of thought has gone into explaining their views.

If I send you the letter, would you please consider including it with your educational journal. I think it could be invaluable to the teaching profession, and also for parental awareness.

Thanks Ste, that's really cool. Maybe you could add some UK links and phone numbers to child abuse hotlines 'cause the ones in the letter are American and not very useful to kids over here. I can't find any European books for teens about abuse :(
 
I also sent it to the independent, and Toby Jones at channel4 to see if they could make it into a short commercial, or put into a schools programme.

Dont be annoyed if they fail to respond, Ive got loads of other ideas.

Nice one with regard the letter as mentioned above.

I dont know if you would be interested in what I am about to suggest.

As you know I have been pretty active with regard Child Protection in as much as confronting one of my abusers and being succesful in getting a short film about some of the effects of SA (the effects it had on me) on the Male Survivor of CSA shown at a recent arts festival, a warning was given out just before it was shown as it was deemed as being emotionally draining. It took me two days from conception through to final edit and burn.

As you have a load of other ideas maybe we (and other Brits on this board) can get our heads together to see what we can come up with. I'm currently having a letter writing blitz on the governement even meeting with my local MP last week who promises to bring up certain questions (with regrad the British Crime Survey) on the floor of the house at the next Home Office questions session which is at the end of the month if I remember rightly.

My latest letter to the powers that be has just been posted in the US and World News section.

Kirk, yeah, Ive got loads of ideas, but I am hoping that the 'real' newspapers will carry the story, but I dont bank on it.

Let us see what transpires. I asked channel 4 to look at the idea, and maybe something comes of that.

It is hard to break the silence, but it will happen one day, but hey Kirk, I posted my poetry and it got a good response. That is good.

there are loads of ideas on this, but we need the support of people who have power, so lets just hope it finds the right ears,

Ste - you never know what response you might get.

A few months ago I sent a fairly stroppy e-mail to The Daily Mail; because they hid an article about a serial paedophile away on page 39 (or there abouts). They had reports about criminals not being jailed for crimes due to overcrowding about 20 pages earlier. 9 pages at the front of the paper had been dedicated to Prince Harry in a nazi uniform.

My admonishment told them that they had everything in reverse order (most damage done - place at front of paper).

The next time they ran a paedophile story it was at the front of the paper (coincidence - I don't know).

The Sunday Mirror & that Stott bloke practically licking Jonathon Kings arse - remember I e-mailed them & didn't even receive a response (although I believe that you did).

Sky News - I e-mailed them yesterday telling them that I had just switched their station off! Why - every time the jackson case is on, it's: 'Doesn't michael look ill'! 'I wonder how michael is taking this'! 'michael appears to have lost a lot of weight.' 'How are the fans reacting to this'?

I asked them what was wrong with mentioning how the victim might be feeling. How I was a member of a group of male survivors of abuse numbering more than 2,500. I asked why they weren't putting the feelings of the abused over the abusers (although I did mention that jackson had not yet been convicted).

Can you imagine if a woman complained about being raped (and was generally believed) and all the media went on about was how the rapist felt - it just wouldn't happen!

Ste - keep putting your 'oar' in when you find a relevant opportunity to do so. We might have to keep chipping away at things, but Mount Rushmore didn't appear overnight (it's usually Rome wasn't built in a day over here, but I think more people might get the Rushmore one).
