The final visit to the dentist

The final visit to the dentist

After 12 visits to the dentist (starting Nov 12), I now have my mouth back to normal! This is a big relief! I think it is party time!

Actually all of this work started back in 1999 but I never finished it. So things got worse which made this process much worse.

Anyway, the dentist is a good one, but I'm glad I don't have to see him for awhile....

Smile please. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I am smiling... just a few years ago all my teeth in the front were broken from neglect... now they are fixed.. fillings fixed.. root canal and new crown done.... yep I'm a smiling and from the words of Tom Petty that helped me get through this "you can stand me up at the gates of hell, but I won't back down".. Come on fear, I am a live and you are so afraid of dying...

I'm flying, smiling and pretty darn happy right now (of course I am listening to my Yanni Ethnicity CD as well)..

Don,

That is great news. I am happy for you. It gives me hope. One of the things that I am trying to get the church to pay for is some badly needed dental work. I severly grind my teeth. My dentist told me that I have the worst case of T M J that he has ever seen. Now that he knows what happened he doesn't blame me for grinding my teeth, he just wishes there were somethig we could do to prevent it. I have broken off one tooth and chipped three others. The rest are ground off by half. I looked at my senior graduation picture and the beautiful smile I used to have.

I am hoping that some day I too can be smiling like you are now. :D :D

Hi Don,

Congratulations! I'm proud of you for taking care of YOU!

I was at Dawn Manner in September. My roommate at the retreat was somehow able to convince me that I didn't have to live in shame about the condition of my teeth. I drove for 5 hours on November 15th to visit his dentist for a consultation. Since then, I was able to find a dentist in my area and have had 11 more appointments (This past Friday, I had 6 temporary crowns done). I still have a lot of work to do, but I'm doing it!! I'm sick and tired of living in shame! I'm not going to do it anymore! I deserve more out of life! We all do!

God Bless,

Brian

Great News Don

I have to admit that I chuckled a bit when I read your post.

After many many years of bad teeth and gum problems I no longer have to visit the dentist as I have had a dental clearence and I'm looking forward to an abcess and pain free future so I may be able to start enjoying my food for the first time in years. :D

Enjoy your grub Don :)

And all that was left was hope. :)

Brian, and Archnut

So happy for both of you. It isn't always an easy road to get started on, but I've found that once done, it not only helps me feel better physically, but it helps me say, H&LL yeah! I kicked some serious butt!

Hey Don,

You can get a very inexpensive night gaurd to help with the grinding--Bruxism. You can get a fitted one for about $600.00 if your insurance pays for it. But I think that cheap one helps with the grinding but not with a new realignment. Lots of chain drug stores carry them.

Hey Brian, great to hear from you. Keep safe friend, you work in more danger than ever these days. You are in my prayers.

Peace to us all.

Bob

Good Lord, I FEAR the dentist. More than the reaper, more than anything else in the world!

That you faced down something I dread, and came away SMILING (hopefully, AFTER the novocaine wore off! :D ), well, that is good stuff.

I salute you, brother Don. Now show off them well-earned pearly whites!

Peace and love!

Scot :D (so great, it needed to be here twice!)

You are man of great bravery! I have been to the dentist ONCE in I think 6 or 7 years! They scare the hell of me! I'm glad your work with him is done.

just had a root canal on a molar..no fun-had 4 root canals-first time on a molar

mouth is loaded with gold caps..looks good..

It is amazing to me how many of us share in the fears of the dentist and how some of the survivor issues keep us from going. Just glad when we hit the dentist office, he's got more than just one of us in that chair at a time. The way it looks, he's got a lot of us in the chair even though he doesn't know it... grin!

Just coming through catching up on some threads. I remember having all four upper front teeth broken. I didn't smile a whole lot then. It really contributed to the way I felt about myself as something bad or worthless.

I have caps on those teeth now, and it made a big difference in how much I would be able to talk to people. I don't like going to the dentist (it's been a couple years again now). I'm always gripping the arms of the chair real, real tight. But that work on those front teeth was worth the stress.

Thanks,

Joe
