The Dean explained
Hello men! Special greetings to you who are vets. Thanks for your service.
I get pm's asking about my nick. So rather than explain it again and again, let me tell you the story of the nick.
My name is Robert Dean Wheelock. When I was teaching at a university I received a pice of mail addressed as:
Dean Robert Wheelock. It went to the Dean's office by mistake and he got angry about it. I actually worked out of the Vice President's office and had little to do with the Dean, but he seemed to resent my being in the Medical School in the position I had. Anyway, he apparently saw this as some sinister thing and I thought that it was rather hilarious.
So when I was thinking of a nick--when I was really not wanting my identity to be known because I did not know if I could trust everyone here, I choose TheDean.
I regret it some now because it sounds pompous and some men think I am a Dean of something. WEll, I have never been a Dean of anything and would dread ever having to do such an administrative task.
I might just change it to something less off-putting. It is a fairly easy thing to do.
Anyway, TheDean is simply me, Bob, your brother.
