Been listening to a lot of Frank these days. Think this is worthy of being here.

That's Life
Frank Sinatra
Writer(s): Kay/Gordon/Kay/Gordon

That's life, that's what people say.
You're riding' high in April,
Shot down in May.
But I know I'm gonna change that tune,
When I'm back on top in June.

That's life, funny as it seems.
Some people get their kicks,
Steppin' on dreams;
But I don't let it get me down,
'Cause this ol' word keeps getting around.

I've been a puppet, a pauper, a pirate,
A poet, a pawn and a king.
I've been up and down and over and out
And I know one thing:
Each time I find myself flat on my face,
I pick myself up and get back in the race.

That's life, I can't deny it,
I thought of quitting,
But my heart just won't buy it.
If I didn't think it was worth a try,
I'd roll myself up in a big ball and die.

"And when you get a little older,"

Frank-Sinatra's Lyrics - It Was a Very Good Year Lyrics

When I was seventeen
It was a very good year
It was a very good year for small town girls
And soft summer nights
Wed hide from the lights
On the village green
When I was seventeen

When I was twenty-one
It was a very good year
It was a very good year for city girls
Who lived up the stair
With all that perfumed hair
And it came undone
When I was twenty-one

When I was thirty-five
It was a very good year
It was a very good year for blue-blooded girls
Of independent means
Wed ride in limousines
Their chauffeurs would drive
When I was thirty-five

But now the days grow short
Im in the autumn of the year
And now I think of my life as vintage wine
>from fine old kegs
>from the brim to the dregs
And it poured sweet and clear
It was a very good year

It was a mess of good years
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
As if I had all them girls...like I wish!!

Didn't know you were such a Sinatra fan, Leo! :D

Unfortunately, I don't have the lyrics handy, but one of his more melancholy songs (apart from "When I was Seventeen," David) was "In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning." Every once in a while, I listen to that when I'm blue, and while it doesn't necessarily make me feel better, it DOES take some of the sting away. Probably because I picture Ol' Blue Eyes sitting at a bar and doing my depression drinking for me.

Sinatra and Bennett are probably the only things my Dad and I see eye to eye on.

Peace and love,

Scot
