On Sat Jan 25th over 50 survivors both men and women came together to start a new organization for survivors in MN. The group is call Survivors Network MN and we have a web site. Our main mission these next few months is to lobby the men and women at the capital to get changes in the laws dealing with Child Sexual Abuse. There is a loophole in the mandatory reporting law for celery. We also want to change the Statute of Limitations. Calf has changed their Statute of Limitations law and the states of Connecticut, Kentucky, Washington & Florida are trying to change their laws also.

Survivors that wanted to could stand up and tell their story and join the other on stage. It was very empowering to listen to all these people tell about the evil done to them and how they have overcome so much. I told about Father Ryan but didnt talk about perp #2. They had a pile of teddy bears and we could pick out one before joining the others on stage. I pick a yellow one that will catch the eyes of people up at the capital. We are all going to carry our bears around the capital as we lobby for change. Our bears will be a symbol of Survivors of Sexual Abuse. This is going to be one good experience for me, I love lobbing for change at the capital. Since I am laid off work and get unemployment I have lots of time to walk the halls for change.

God has trained me well for this mission. I have many hours of lobbying at the state capital. I first walked the halls 35 years ago in 1968, the powers that be wanted to draft us and send us to Nam to die but wouldnt give us the right to vote. Yap 18,19 and 20 years old could die in WAR but COULDNT VOTE. I am proud to say that the 18YO voting bill passed that year. Together we can make change. If you live in MN and want to join us the web site is survivorsnetworkmn.org

Muldoon,

I wish I were closer to MN. I would be there. I would like to lobby the legislature in Wyoming to do the same thing. But, it seems that this kind of thing never happens in Wyoming. Even after the tragedy of Mathew Shepard there still is NO hate crime legislation in Wyoming. The Laws need to be changed. Hopefully something can be done.

I hope you contact Peter Dimock, the Conference Chair of our next conference, which will be held in Minneapolis in September. It would be a natural place for you to have a platform. Plus, we are in need of people to help make the conference a success, both in terms of the program and the publicity it gets. Peter and his committee have a lot of ideas for how to do this. Please get in touch with him.
