Survivor Tattoo Ideas
I've thought about it even more since adding my comments above.

It would need a very good tattooist (I'd want to see examples of their work). A picture of me as I am now (court case January to March this year), from the knees up, with a picture of me at 12 escaping from my adult chest. I'd want this above my heart! I'd want the inner child to be holding the scales of justice in one hand, and probably a knife in the other!

Best wishes ...Rik

There are so many different ideas about this isn't there? Synataxed mentioned the "Phoenix" and I really like that idea. And Kirk I also showed some tears when Fawkes helped Harry too! So you are not alone in that. I have researched some Phoenix tattoos and they are all pretty large...I am thinking of maybe a medium tattoo. FL Rich - you meantioned where to put it. My thoughts have been to have it placed on my right shoulder....I hardly ever wear shirts without sleves so the only time it would be seen anyway would be in the gym (which I excersise at home) or swimming etc... THe Idea of having a picture of myself is sort of cool too. Liek Dale the beach would be awesome to have me there on. John you said something about smearing and I have a brother in law who just had that problem but he just went and had it redone or filled in. I was not aware one could even do that. Jonathon - I really like the idea of Labyrinths & Mandalas too. I want to do some more research on them. Bisulatino you mentioned the "wolf" I liked the whole surviving as in a pck or alone also. That really struk home with me. Nobbynobs - your comment made me laugh. I was not offended at all. I remember a time when I Was deep in my counseling that I thought something like that...
Ste- you bring up a valid point...that its like branding yourself....and at times I have already felt like I was branded... Rik - your tattoo you have come up with really sounds great! Are you going to do it?

Plans are that we are thinking about doing this in december but if I Were to really decide which idea I liked I m ight just look around here in my town....I know I like the idea of having one that would mean something special to me...I do know I realy need to think about this and make sure I am sure.

I think Ste's brief reminder is worth a VERY long second look. Recovery has a lot to do with dramatic changes in the way we think about ourselves, so while a tattoo you get today may strike you as the coolest thing in the world right now, you may not think that way in the future.

Much love,
Larry

Exactly...
A girl I knew was getting a tattoo of... an orchid I think? Some type of island flower... I asked her why she chose it and she said because she's a travel agent and she loves going to the islands, etc. So of course me being the asshole that I am asked her if she intended on being a travel agent and traveling to islands for the rest of her life..
She slapped me.
I deserved it.

Jay

Ouch! I can almost feel that one. There is just NO slap like the one that comes from an insulted girl. ;)

Much slapped,
Larry

You might consider looking for the mythical Liver bird, a huge bird that covers the four corners of the Liver buildings.

They are a symbol of freedom and hope, and of friendship,

ste

Ste - I hope you're not talking about Nerys Hughes the actress here (she was in The Liver Birds years ago). I don't think she'd appreciate the description! ;)

Best wishes ...Rik

Rik, I knew someone would make that comparison.
It is the huge mythical green birds with an olive branch in each of their beaks.

The silhouette is very impressive, and I wish I could post it here, but cannot,
