I'm a survivor and successful composer who has adapted 3 survivor poems into songs. The piece details the abuse before moving into the healing process, so if you feel it may be triggering, be careful. It will be performed on May 11th at 8PM at the Mannes School of Music at 150 W. 85th between Columbus and Amsterdam. I hope it will be helpful to all of us.

I am planning to attend. I work on Staten Island until 6:30 pm -your event starts at 8, right? I should be able to make it. Any idea when you would go on? It is a free event, right? Thanks.

So glad to hear you're coming! I'm in the first 3-4 pieces, so my piece will be performed no later than 8:45. 1.5 hrs. should be enough time and since I might be first, I'd plan on getting there at 8. Yes, the concert is free. See you Wed.

Congratulations.

Thanks for sharing the music. the words and music were intense and fit the experiences. I got to Mannes about 8:10 so I got to hear most of your performance from outside the door with my ear to the wall:). It resonated even with that.
I heard someone discussing it in the subway after so it obviously had a strong affect on others as well. I am glad that you have found a creative way to express the anger and with the last piece-hope.
