I've just spent a few hours surfin' around looking for Survivor sites, mainly for UK ones.
Well, I found a few but none solely for males, although a couple did have male forums that seem barely used.
And with the best will in the world most were lacking in good, intelligent talk on the forums. Some are just dire, however well intentioned.
Add to some the migraine inducing coloured - flashing backgrounds and I wanted to get out quick.
So I guess Male Survivor leads the field, and who cares where it's based ? SA doesn't change into something else just because of borders.

But I did find two excellent sites that you might find useful for gaining good information.
The first is the excellent Health Canada National Clearinghouse on Family Violence site.

https://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/hppb/familyviolence/childsa.htm

Loads of good stuff there, and easy to find your way about and download stuff from.

The other good site is David Baldwins Trauma Information Pages. Mainly information and links for psychologists and other proffesionals, but again loads of interesting reading.

Hi Lloydy,

Thanks for the tips. We have some good links on our site, but three or four of the links I clicked on were broken.

I don't find muc of value beyound us. I know, I know, kind of parochial.

Lloydy & Bob:

I affirm what both of you are saying: I checked several other sites before I found MS/NOMSV and checked some afterward. I have found few other site where the whole site is for male survivors. None of them had the discussion boards or chat rooms or near the resources or participation we have here. This site is a gift. Which of course means all of us are a gift; we the people are the site!

OK Bob, I guess I'm kinda parochial too! But you people here have done so much for me that hasn't been done on any other site of any kind!

However Lloydy there are some sites that can be helpful out there, especially in the area of PTSD, which I have, Complex in fact. Baldwin's site has a lot of good info, which is its purpose; no boards or chat (last I looked). For that, Trauma Anonymous is great (at least the boards, haven't been to chat yet) and I'm fairly active there. Sidran is also a good info site.

Lloydy, you're right. SA doesn't change becuz of borders. Furthermore, brother, the national borders between us doesn't change or diminish in the least our bond as male survivors. :)

Yeah, Sidran is an excellent site that I've used a lot, some terrific links from there as well.

As I said the Canadian site impressed me greatly, especially for a Gov't site. But I think the Canadians are very aware of the SA problem, a lot of their local town / area sites are very good and professional.

It is fun to surf and also to use google. I did not find a lot to look into tho.

One thing I am amzed at is that the age of consent in UK is 16! Is that correct? I think UNICEF and MS and others should advicate for age 18 world wide. I know some primitive peoples do things at a younger age but it is not seen as abusive and may not be harmful to the kids.

Bob

Lloydy: I'll have to check out that Canadian site; don't believe I've seen it before.

Bob: I think you're right about the age of consent. But isn't the age of consent also 17 or 16 in many U.S. states? I don't know, just stuff I've heard; so I'm asking, if anybody knows. Seems to me the age of consent ought to be consistent with the age of adulthood, at least.

Yes, we can get married at 16 - age of consent for sex, gay sex has just been made the same, last year I think, down from 18.
We don't get to vote until 18 though.

But haven't some of the US States got remarkably low age of consent for marriage - something like 13 or 14 ? or have they all gone now ?

Oh yeah, we can't drink alcohol till 18 so "kids" wedding parties are pretty sober affairs.
