The perspective you present certainly isn't in fashion, but I would say let others agonize over that. It's unfortunate when a perspective is driven out of discussion simply because the majority will see things differently and consider that view to be "old-school".
I wouldn't call you view unacceptable either by the way. Adam is dealing with some heavy issues here and it's a good idea that he hear all the different viewpoints that we can offer him. I am sure he will have gained from you something further to think about as he decides what is best for him.
