Starting over

Starting over
Well, as some of you read, I unexpectedly told my mother about my brother abusing me. I think its time to start over and get a new beginning.

I currently work at a small computer store where we repair pcs and sell various components and also new pcs.

There are several problems with my job currently
#1. We are understaffed this means that I have to do alot of different things, I go from salesman to repair technican to purchasing the items that we sell, I also answer the phone and wait on customers.

#2. We are unexperienced. I have no professional tech training, no certifications, my boss has only the certification equvilant to the experience a 6 month Tech would have.

#3. My boss doesn't have the best customer service ability in the world and he's hardly here because he needs to go up to our other store because he is the only one who runs that.

#4. We are in finanical problems, we always pay bills late because we don't have the money. I don't know how we've stayed open this long

#5 We are unable to keep up on the latest techology coming out because of our lack of staff.

#6. its really a part time job and the pay isn't good.

Being that I have self esteem issues and issues about feeling like a fraud, I think I need to go to one of the tech schools and get a degree. Something with job placement, then I wouldn't have as many of those issues as I do now. I'd have a sense of accomplishment.

Good idea?
(BTW I think SO_Cal Marc mentioned this to me in the chat so its probably his idea)

Jason,

I see you have been thinking more about this.

Change can be scary when you have been at something so long. But it can also be a growth experience.

Taking your time about making these decisions is a sign of maturity. At your age I didn't have it. I'd get mad and change jobs all the time.

But you have one accomplishment already that I don't want you to forget. You are showing us great warmth and courage. You are so important to me. You have accomplished the transition from being alone with this to being an integral part of this family.

You have my support in whatever you decide to do. You know that.

Peace,

Marc

Hi Jason,

No matter what you're challenged with J, always remember how you got out of the car in Canada. If you looked at the whole week-end ahead of you, you would have flooded emotionally and left in a heart beat. But by having a step by step managable plan, you not only got out of the car but you had a great week-end with experiences you would have never dreamed of having done.

Make the steps managable little bro and every individual step forward is a tremendous success. Hang in here with us J. We need your perspective.

Jason
the only thing stopping you is your past, and because you're here at MS it's fairly safe to assume it wasn't the best !

But the future is something else, we have the keys to that. Unlock your future, it's the best feeling in the world.

Jason - I have just read your take on the business that you are employed in. Do you realise how switched on you sound? You know what the issues are & you also have some idea of how you would like to improve upon your own situation.

I can't tell you what to do, but I do get the impression that you just need someone to tell you to go for it.

Best wishes...Rik
