I have recently begun seeing someone. We have gone on several dates and seem to enjoy each other's company. Things seem to be progressing well. It seemed like time to share with him that I am a rape survivor, and he listened to what I shared. Then he told me that he is also a rape survivor. So we talked a bit about our experiences. We are both clear on not violating boundaries.

I'm glad that went so well. With that out in the open it must be a huge relief - not wondering all the "what if"s of disclosure. I was every apprehensive when I told my wife (after 24 years together), but man, it felt like a huge stone was lifted off me when that secret was no more.

Congratulations on getting the "heavy issues" out of the way in the beginning! as long as you continue to honor each others' boundaries, you will be able to learn a lot from each other.
