hey where's hanginon lately?

m

Hmmmm. How does one scream support on the DB? Let's see what this produces.... {\beginscream} MARK!!!! {\endscream}.

Larry

MAAAAAAAAAARK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There's the scream...now here is a thought.....tired is not always bad....at least you are feeling something....how long was feeling something and being in touch with that feeling missing from your life? I have learned that if I am feeling...I am moving in the fright direction....sorry if this sounds preachy....that is not my aim......sometimes I am a simple cheerleader minus the pom poms and short skirt.

Steven,

Mark is Freud actually. He never died. He stayed young and went to Toronto, where he keeps birds and loves photography and the arts. ;)

Much analysis,
Larry

Hanginon has been pre-occupied with a board meeting (read "bored") that went badly and had me very depressed...and lonely because no one to talk to about it...alas, isolation resonates....

BUT I have a question for you...

I have the chance to meet Rosie O'Donnell and Desmond Tutu at a museum event tonight (I am pals with the museum director) and she (said director) is planning to place me next to a very eligible bachelor in town .

I HAVE to go, but it's a VERY pricey fundraiser event that is hardly in my budget...unless I do installments for the nxt 6 months (my proposal to her).

what would you all do?

john

John,

Rosie O'Donnell and Desmond Tutu and eligible bachelors? What price love and fame? (And is Desmond Tutu the eligible bachelor?!?)

I've been to a lot of celebritized charity wing-dings, and the 'chance to meet' al-gore-hillary-clinton-bernadette-peters-aretha-franklin-dr-phil-judy-collins-margaret-cho-etc-etc-etc-etc is always just a marketing thingummy used by the charitable organization to make the price of the wing-ding seem like a good deal to buyers. Invariably, the 'chance to meet' turns out to be a chance to shake a hand, say something nice but inconsequential, be complimented on how nice one is looking, etc. Then the celebritoid, in accordance with the script for such events, moves on to the next person or couple and repeats what s/he just did with you. And so on.

I'd also look at an installment plan for six months as pretty danged pricey, and consider that if I need to do this, then maybe Rosie and Desmond and The Bachelor should pony up some bucks to come and meet me...

Bottom line: do you care about the cause enough to go into hock for six months? If so, pay and go. Don't go thinking that by taking on six months of debt, you'll be buying real 'quality time' with two celebrities and getting the husband of your dreams...

Hugs,
John

OK, MAAAAAAAAAARRRRRKKKKK!!!!!!

Now that I've imposted an off-topic response to hanginon, I'll do the scream thing, too. But MAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!, I have one more thing to add, which is:

WHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hugs, love, support,
John

thanks guys-

I just logged back on - sorry bout the absence-

why would you want to meet Rosie and Desmond?

would you actually meet them or would you see them - a football field away?

and how long would you talk ?

woudl it be meaningful?

what you want to hear from them ?

.. just consider it - I have no idea what they are really like - but they do good works -

but still - I dunno - I guess
if you have ideas you want to set forth to them -

perhaps a really beautifully written letter might get more undivided attenion from them?

this gets their mind right on you!

rather than a big hullabaloo party where both of them would rather be home with their partners - eating a good home meal -and just yapping about the day---

nespas dude?

Mark

You Guys THANK YOU SOOO SOOO SOOO MUCH!!!!

This makes me feel so GOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!

right back at you!!!!!!!!!!!

((((HUGS))))

mark :)

Hanging on - it does sound like fabulous event perhaps - but - maybe do the fabulous thing -

when it does damage your wallet so -

i think you might get bitter - I would -

give what you can - but give to your savings account first - that is your first 'bill to pay'
always -

eh?

Mark

i meant to write 'when it does not damage'

well, my own pessimism was enough to stop me add in my total isolation and complete hermit life, all i needed was a word or two of discouragement from going to remain as skeptical and antisocial as i have become.

why did i want to meet them? yes, rosie was more interesting as a potential lead for a project i have been working with for a while, but nevermind, i gave up again on believing that anything good could possible come of it . Rosie is an abuse survivor, too, you know?

broken record: i dont deserve good things to happen to me, only bad

thanks for the positive reinforcement, guys!

and nobody like bored meetings - truly -

no worries you are not alone -

meetings can be boring they can be interesting -
don't loose sight it's about getting the job done -

if it didn't do anything but bullshit - sometimes that is part of the process - uggg too -

yeauuuuch -=

Hanginon-

Nowhere in anything Mark or I wrote is there any advice about giving in to pessimism, isolation, skepticism and anti-sociability...just the idea that a six-month hit to your bank account needs to be balanced against what you expect to gain from the evening in terms of benefit. Is a six-month debt worth the opportunity to pitch an idea to Rosie? Could be. Is a charity function the best place to pitch Rosie? No, there are better places/ways to do that; but there are also worse ones, too. No one is trying to discourage you, just trying to answer the question you originally asked, which was a direct "what would you do?" vis-a-vis the price and the celebrities. I'm sorry it felt like cold water on your hopes. I know that feeling -- I think everyone here does. But it wasn't my intent to make you feel that way, I was just trying to respond to your question from my own viewpoint and experience. Mine are not superior to yours, however, just different. By all means make up your own mind about it, and please do not try to blame me or Mark for your decision.

Hugs, love, support,
John

wow - sorry hangin on - i didn't know we were on at the same time - i posted right over you-

i am not saying like john said to dash your dreams -

hanginon - don't give up on your dream - just maybe write the letter?

mgb

don't throw the baby (your dream) out with the bath water ok? -eh?

i know it's hard not to get like you said - down in a lot of ways -

i was down - tonight
and knew to come on -here -

you seem a very creative person -
and inspire me -

you have a lot of resourcefulness it seems so -
and creativity - using it though in a way that does you the most elegant solution in terms of
creative and financial solutions might be
the most fulfilling creative challenge -

it sure is mine - i am no saint when it comes to spending - i only hope that - your targeted spending can give you the best possible entree to getting Rosie's direct look -

a letter might be cheaper and also more
impactful - so these are not meant as deterents -

ulitmately it's your choice about all - we just want you to support you in that and get the best advantages out of your investments -

i was afraid you would spend all that money - go to the event -

and feel like you were taken and then get sad about that - :(
so

just want the most positive times - and want to show flip sides of things -

for you to decide which risk worthy thing to you-

mark

Mark, you put it so well. Wish I'd said that. John

thanks John - but Hanginon - no way no how do we want to squash your dreams -

we really want you to achieve them! totally!

(((hanginon))))

and at the same time -was being a sounding board -
so you could use those ideas
