Songs for survivors

Songs for survivors
.

Its been a while since I posted a new song in here but this is one I have been listening to lately.

Set me Free by Casting Crowns

Here is another song I have been listening to lately.

"Bring me Rain" by Mercy Me

https://youtu.be/OSkrlK7br9s

Here is a song that may resonate with family members of survivors. I know my sisters and parents struggle that they were not aware of my abuse. Just a warning the video is a bit emotional.

"Why" by Rascal Flatts.

It's been a while since I have posted some songs. I have had 2 artists on my mind lately who both ended their own lives. The first is from Avici and the second is really special from the Cranberries who lead singer committed suicide in January. Sadly she was abused for 4 years herself. I am posting two live versions of the song as they are amazing with the full orchestra involved.

1. "Wake Me Up" by Avicii

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5y_KJAg8bHI

2. "Zombie" by Cranberries

I love the Avicii song, It is one of the first ones on an Amazon Music dance mix I made. Was saddened by his suicide.

I had no idea that Dolores O'Riordan also committed suicide. Wow. Again, very sad. You think people like her and Avicii have it all, but they must have been really troubled to take their own lives.

Yes its very sad. I do appreciate music with a deep message as it tends to say a lot about the artists singing the song. Thanks for the response too Chris

The lyrics and his voice touch me an a very deep level.

In the days of my youth I fell in love with you like a raft on the river no paddles no use
But all the rocks they took their toll each hit a bit of soul 'til one day down the river we fell overboard
Wisdom come speak to me don't let me be in the shadows, shadows

Wake up these tired eyes raise me high from sorrow, sorrow
When I was young I found a road I saw but couldn't show seeking and wandering deep into the unknown
But I've strayed and so you've seen these wounds oh how they bleed red as the earthen war torn plains
Wisdom come speak to me don't let me be in the shadows, shadows
Wake up these tire eyes raise me high from sorrow, sorrow
Like my father used to say good luck ain't no mistake
Know you have destiny
Don't you hesitate
Wisdom come speak to me don't let me be in the shadows, shadows
Wake up these tired eyes raise me hight from sorrow, sorrow
I place this hammer in your hand let me break let me shatter start again
Tear down these walls let the roof cave in
Restart
Rebuild
Relive

The pain is clear in both Avicii and Dolores O'Riordan songs.
I meshed some of the lyrics making a combined expression of the pain they both speak about.
RIP

I tried carrying the weight of the world
But I only have two hands
We must be mistaken
Feeling my way through the darkness
Child is slowly taken
Guided by a beating heart
Heart is taking over
I can't tell where the journey will end
In your head
Zombie, zombie, zombie ei, ei, ei, oh do do do do do do do do
But I know where to start
They tell me I'm too young to understand
When the violence causes silence
Well life will pass me by if I don't open up my eyes
Well that's fine by me
So wake me up when it's all over
When I'm wiser and I'm older
I tried carrying the weight of the world
But I only have two hands
In your head
Zombie, zombie, zombie ei, ei, ei, oh do do do do do do do do

She, she
She, she

She caught a hole in the fence and she ran
She left her troublesome prison behind
She didn't wanna fuel the fire
She didn't wanna lose her desire

She, she
She, she

She looked out out to the horizon
She didn't have much left to see
Greed had taken the trees away
She had taken the bees away

She, she
She, she

She don't know where she gonna go now
She looked up to and it should've been stars
She said I wanna go to Mars
This this planet, it ain't ours

She said I wanna go to Mars
And this this planet ain't ours

[Verse 1]
It ruffled up my feathers
And it barked on up my tree
When suddenly it seemed all the fingers
Were pointing on up at me

[Verse 2]
And the footsteps in the sand
Were all getting washed up by the sea
To leave me in stitches
Bursting at the seams
Bursting at the seams

[Pre-Chorus]
When the sun came out to greet me
I only saw the wolves from my dreams

[Chorus]
This is my Berlin Blues song
Sometimes life can get a little wrong
But it won't be long
'Cause it just makes me strong

[Verse 3]
And there is a place where we one day will delve
Where there's no more walking on eggshells
Where ideas are for free, oh it's the place to be
Your great mind's no longer the minority

[Verse 4]
And I'll see you there with your hands in the air
Where the canvas is bare
And there's no more despair
And your third eye will stare
Nothing can compare
There's not one care
And I'll see you there
I'll see you there
I'll see you there
I'll see you there

[Chorus]
This is my Berlin Blues song
Sometimes life can get a little wrong
But it won't be long
'Cause it just makes me strong

Oh, he stands in front of me
And he’s staring manically
Screaming oh society
What have you done to me?

The ground I’ve tread so many years
All this blood and sweat and tears
Just to be inside your mould
And do just what I’m told
If only I had been so bold
But now my body’s getting old
And time is oh so golden
If only it could be frozen

But you took it away from me
Oh society
You took it away from me
Oh, my liberty
Oh you took it away from me
Oh, society
You took it away from me

When you brainwashed me with formulas of how I should be
Shaped me and raped me of my individuality
Schooled me and fooled me
Told me what I could and could not see
Took me and shook me
Of my urges to be free

So nice Blue Sky. I like what you did with those lyrics.

Here is a remake of a classic song that I am enjoying...it definitely puts me in a thinking mood.

"Simple Man" by Shinedown

Be Still - The Fray

Be still and know that I'm with you
Be still and know that I am here
Be still and know that I'm with you
Be still, be still, and know

When darkness comes upon you
And covers you with fear and shame
Be still and know that I'm with you
And I will say your name

If terror falls upon your bed
And sleep no longer comes
Remember all the words I said
Be still, be still, and know

And when you go through the valley
And the shadow comes down from the hill
If morning never comes to be
Be still, be still, be still

If you forget the way to go
And lose where you came from
If no one is standing beside you
Be still and know I am

Be still and know that I'm with you
Be still and know I am

Thanks Linear.

I never heard this song before. Wow.

A very good reminder.

Very moving and true. Might be a bit triggering though.
