I work close to a major expressway and the airport here in "protest city". If you haven't heard, miami is the hot spot for protestors right now. Not that I am against any protesting, but just don't want violence.

Anyway with all what has been going on with me personally, this isn't helping. I've heard sirens all morning and from my office, I can see scads of police cars screaming down the expressway. I've counted about 50 police cars now since I got to work. They just keep going by and all I can hear is the sirens. It is about ready to drive me nuts! I have no clue what is going on, but will be happy when this week is over. The week from hell!

I just want the sirens to stop!

it's a fine line between fighting for our beliefs and rioting because we're pissed off.

But both are upsetting to watch.

I hope your lovely city quietens down soon.

I totally sympatize with you. I live in Manhattan, and the sirens haven't stopped since 9/11. Today, I saw a low flying milatary helicopter flying with its doors wide open and soldiers legs hanging out like they do in war. I wanted to scream. Everyone was pointing at it in wondermeant.

STOP IT! STOP! I CAN'T TAKE IT NO MORE I NEED HELP THEY HAVE MADE THE SIRENS FOR THE FIRETRUCKS LOUDER SINCE 9/11 WHY? HELP ME ARE THE SOLDIERS IN GRAND CENTRAL HELPING ME OR ABUSING ME? MOMMY ABUSED ME AND WARNED ABOUT SOLDIERS WHO CUT OFF YOUNG BOYS PENISES. THEY DIDN'T PROTECT ME FROM HER. ARE THEY FRIEND OR FOE? I CAN'T FIGURE IT OUT.

Go to the nearest pharmacy and buy some earplugs. You might try buying a few different types to find the ones that work best for you. Different kinds have different levels of sound protection. There is one small spongey kind that if used, NOT as directed, eliminates sound entirely. If used the wrong way the plug could get stuck in your ear canal so be careful.

The soldiers didn't protect you from your mother because they didn't know she was hurting you. If they had known, they would have stopped her. Your mother lied to you when she told you that soldiers cut off little boys' penises. Men soldiers were once little boys themselves. They liked their penises and wanted to keep them their whole lives. They would never cut off a little boy's penis. If they did that, no little boy would ever become a soldier.

I think your mother was jealous of little boys and grown-up men.

I know noise really gets to me a lot of times and the heightened tensions were all around the city. It was producing a lot of anxiety. Of course things are much calmer today in the city and for myself.

I just felt like I was coming unglued yesterday.

I think it is interested what noises do to you... for me it is banging. Anything like a hammer gets me pissed off and anxious like nothing else.

Glad you got through the chaos... if anything, things like that do show that the moment of hell does subside and we can endure it. I'll try taking my own advice next time someone is doing construction on my apartment building... yeah, right.

You are welcome. It shocked me that a mother would tell her beautiful little boy such a terrifying thing. Glad I could help. Better late than never is surely true.

Don, It makes it hard to deal with your internal conflicts and pains when you are being bombarded by external conflicts and pains. The external conflicts can intensify the internal feelings.

In my little area, the police have been being arrested this week. This reduces the feeling safety. The first one was arrested for rape, alledgedly committed while on duty.

Green, Talk about a double whammy. Multiple tramatic events.

The soldiers are their to protect you from a specific threat, not to hurt you. But the fact they are there, is a constant reminder of the events that had happened. It is understandable that they could merge the two events together. Your mother made the link and know they are there. The sight of them would easily bring it all back up front.

As Mary has said, soldiers don't go around cutting the penises of little boys. Especially the ones they are defending. There aren't any recent incidents, at least in our lifetimes, of this acitivity. And those long ago incidents were not to the little boys and not here by our soldiers. Your mother was just plain cruel, protecting herself by installing fear into you.

My thoughts are with the both of you.
