I remembered this movie after seeing a quote used by kix in the unmod forum.

Very triggering!

It was a powerful movie for me to see.

The power was the putting on film, the phenominon of how the caustic male culture of sexual dominance works.

Here sex is a weapon for the narcissistic.

The gender of the victim is mostly inconsequential. The object is to destroy the vulnerable, and for the perpetrator it mixes with sexual pleasure.

I say sarcasticly, "It was like seeing my family on film. Touching, wasn't it?"

The piece that was healing to me was the supportive relationship with the narrator who 'witnessed' the violence.

There was also hope in the ending of the movie with the start of a new life and the continued support of a trusted friendship.

I have no doubt that shame will revisit the victim, but the deep frindship will be a great antidote.

Hi,

I saw the movie. It is powerful statement about the male culture. I have just ended a period of watching movies with SA theme.

"The Unsaid" was also powerful in its depiction of far reaching consequences of SA.

Thank you for sharing.

I love the Shawshank Redemption. One of my favorite movies in fact.

It is so much about hope and the simple kindness of true friendship. There are no alterior motives in the friendship of the two main characters and they're group of buddies. All around them are selfish and sadistic people only concerned with their own greed and gratification.

I think it offers a good analogy for what MS is to a lot of us. The simple truth of a good friend going through the same things you are.

Such a poignant last line:

"I hope the Pacific is as blue as it has been in my dreams, I hope to see my friend again and shake his hand, I hope..."

Another great line is when they get the beer to drink on the roof:

"We sat on the roof with the sun on our backs and felt like free men, we were the lords of all creation."

Excellent, 4 stars and two thumbs up, highly recomended....yadda yadda

:)

I so agree, Martin.

The film is a classic, a break through, and a primer for the topic of men's issues.

Rape isn't only a woman's issue.

It is a men's and a woman's issue.

Perpetration is also a men's and a woman's issue.

It doesn't only happen in prison.

And it was so artfully unsaid Lodzia
