Seeking closure on past events

How can we seek closure?
I cannot do it presently within the World, and the advice I have been recently given.

Rik and Kirk, cannot seek closure, Rik, because he
cannot think how this perp can escape jail, and Kirk who has an abuser who just says ppl want money to expose him as the monster he was/IS!

What is professional "victim"!
What compensation can you expect for a lost childhood!

Are these beasts hiding under some mask that somehow kids love being molested!
The laws covering the times these things happened were so lax, so it was happy hunting ground for perps to just take what they want.

Then they say we wanted it or something like that, but that never be the truth.
They target kids who are vulnerable, and guess we all were for some reason.

Times dont change, we have a culture of divorce etc, where kids look for paternal guys who want to help, but that is for governments to look at.

I worked with social policy in UK, and guess what!
They dont want to know how society ticks.
Because they know best!

Good question! But there have been similar situations in the past. I can remember the civil rights debate in my own country. That took a long time before there were tangible improvements, but the activists did not give up and eventually awareness was heightened and some good results were achieved.

I think we need to do the same: just never give up and keep talking about this issue and the harm it is doing to the victims and to society at large.

I went to the police at the age of nine, I told my story and the perp had to attend some counseling sessions, he later molested more boys and they finally made him serve some time.

My closure comes in the form that he is dead I guess. Before I found this out I unknowingly looked over my shoulder for him to show up one day and put a gun to my head. I guess his death is closure for me.

As far as society goes I guess it will take someone in an authoritative position that knows first hand what sexual abuse can cause the victim. Like Larry said, we just have to keep plugging along, getting our story out to the world, exposing the affects of SA. One day it will get the attention it needs and something will be done, I am sure of it.
