Santorum to a Sanatorium
I am outraged that this idiotic senator is mixing incest with homosexuality - equating love between two consenting adults with abuse of power, authority and love.
In order to avoid any "taken out of context" pretext, here is a link to his exact words:
Exerpts from the interview - not taken out of context!
Something has to be done to get this man out of power. Neaderthal mentality has no place in today's world. Our global society is far too pluralistic for intolerant homophobic imbeciles to be in any position to decide what is "normal".
I am a gay male survivor of incest. My perpetrator was my older brother, he was 14 and I was 8. I am in therapy for this now and am working hard to put my past behind me and to move on with a healthy and happy gay relationship.
I have discovered that my homosexuality was already surfacing before my abuse - that I was a "pretty boy" seems to be what made me an obvious target for perpetrators (I was raped when I was 15 by a stranger). I have been "out" as a gay male since I was 17 years old and never equated my homosexuality with my abuse. It was confusing to try and separate the two things and if it is that difficult for me, imagine what Sanatorium's statements do to add to confusion:
"...if the Supreme Court says that you have the right to consensual sex within your home, then you have the right to bigamy, you have the right to polygamy, you have the right to incest, you have the right to adultery."
How can consensual sex be the same as incest? This is outrageous!
I just needed to vent here, guys. This sort of mentality is what enables the SHAME to have a hold on our lives. I will NOT feel ashamed for being gay. I will NOT allow my incest to have a grip on me for a lifetime. I will NOT confuse my being gay with abuse. I will put this all behind me and when I do, I will offer a helping hand to others in need.
Thanks for being here!
