HOW CAN I TURN OFF A RESTLESS MIND . SOME TIMES I CANNOT SLEEP BECAUSE I CANNOT SEEM TO GET THE TERABLE THOUGHTS OUT OF MY HEAD . WHEN I SLEEP LATELY I HAVE NITE MARES . HELP
 
Micheal, That is prety much one of my biggest problems - Especially if I have to work the next day with only a few hours of sleep. The only thing I found that works for me is reading. Seriously. It also helps if you read a positive book. I found that it takes my focus off of my memories and places it on something I choose to think about. Sometimes it takes an hour or more but at least I get more sleep and my mind is not focused on horrors at the time I fall asleep - which I find has decreased my nightmares. Hopefully it works for you.

I wish I could tell you what to do Mike, but my experiences didn't manifest themsleves in my adult life the way they did for you, but I know that many others here are going through exactly what you are though.

I can only tell you that I was only able to get rest when I consented to see a psychologist and got put on meds. I was on them for 6 months combined with an intensive counseling program. When I went off the meds I had been able to process enough in the previous 6 months that I was able to sleep night and get the rest I needed.
