Hello again everyone - I've only just got around to reading the Sunday Supplements (magazines that are delivered with newspapers as an extra).

I took exception to a paragraph in one article and have e-mailed both The Mail on Sunday who printed the article in their Night and Day LIVE supplement, also Kerrang (a weekly Rock Music magazine from the UK) to see if I get a response from either.

The following is what I sent:

Dear sir/madam - in The Mail on Sunday (Jan 8th 2006), there was an article by Rebecca Hardy in relation to Jon Bon Jovi / Bon Jovi.

In the article, it is stated that JB has 4 children between the ages of 1 and 12 (gender not stated). The article is quite reasonable until:

'Bon Jovi says he discovered sex when he was far too young. I was getting a lot further than you would think by the time I was 12. I was liberated by a desperate housewife. Seduced at 12?

'Yeah ...use your imagination.'

Well sorry is he bragging. Has he seen how many teachers have been jailed in America for seducing pupils. Is he implying / bragging to his fans (some of whom will be 12 and less that it is OK to be 'Seduced at 12' It is not and if he hasn't been taken out of context, the man's an idiot.

If he was seduced, why isn't he sending this 'desperate housewife' to jail along with the other paedophiles.

Assuming he has both daughters and sons, what would he think if at 12 either of them was 'seduced' by an adult man or woman - not very happy I bet.

Child sex abuse is one of the last taboos. I am a member of a support group for male survivors of child sex abuse - most of us were 'seduced' from a young age by adults of both sexes. I have been a member of the group for 2 years, and in that time the number of members has doubled to over 3000 - we are just the tip of the iceberg.

Smug 'boasting' by idiots does not prevent abuse.

My full name and address follows - please only print name and address supplied if you choose to print any of my letter (unlikely I know), as I have an impending court case against my abuser...30+ years after the event! Printing of my name at present could jeopardise the case.

I will also be posting this letter on the support group website.

In the past I would have just shrugged & moved on from the article - now I cannot!

Best wishes ...Rik

I don't know if he's bragging or not. He did say 12 was "far too young" for his first time but he also said he was "liberated" by his perp, reality is quite the opposite! Perhaps he has his own issues to deal with concerning that. Either way, he needs to watch what he says about acts of pedophilia.

I didn't see this article, so maybe I shouldn't comment, but I personally think that someone like JB is a role model for many kids and he has a responsibility to speak accordingly. To me it seems reckless and harmful to propagate myths that glorify sex between a 12 year old and adult. This annoys me.

JBJ was a complete tear-away in his early years. Basically he was a lower middle class kid growing up in NJ and dreaming of becoming a rock star. Then when it happened his career skyrocketed and he got into a lot of excesses in alcohol, drugs, groupies, orgies and so on. But since then he has done a lot of growing up and has given numerous interviews in which he has commented on and regretted a lot of what happened.

It's always difficult to know from a printed text, but I wonder if he was being sarcastic when he referred to being "liberated".

Just a thought.

If I remember right Carlos Santana recently made a statement that he was abused as a child too. Jon seems to be bragging a little in the article from what I read here. I think we have to consider the source he is a rock star.Even though Carlos had approached his annoucement with maturity it seems to me that Jon is allmost bragging who knows he seems like a good person as far as rock stars go.

In the 80's my cousin Gerry worked at the Record Plant for his uncle. he would tell me stories of Jon hanging around trying to get work a very ambitious guy and thats not exactly a bad thing!
