I hope the guys dont mind me borrowing their idea, but its a good one and I thought itd be nice if we could share quotes with each other too. I came across this one a few days ago:

Human beings, by changing the inner attitudes of their minds, can change the outer aspects of their lives. - William James

"Sometimes it's not that you're doing the wrong thing, it's just that you haven't been doing the right thing long enough."

I have no idea who said that.

this one just seems to fit the mood survivors and partners often seem to find themselves in either with each other, or more than likely, with the general population...you know what i mean. btw, tounge in cheek...

"hello? is this thing on?"

and, lest that one lead to feeling morose over the inevitability of not being heard, consider the following by the sage, dr. evil...

"idiots! i am surrounded by fricking idiots!"

personally i prefer the term "morons", as some here can attest, but when you are feeling low through the first quote, just follow it with the second one and try to feel somewhat vindicated :D . take care.

"Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love."
-- Lao-Tse
:)

it is not bad

to have the body. To have experienced joy
as the mere lifting of hunger
is not to have known it
less.

--Jorie Graham

The way I'm feeling right now it's:

"If you can't say anything nice, then don't say anything at all."

~Thumper, in Bambi~

For the survivor's:

"Courage is fear that has said it's prayers."

Pollyanna:

I love your quote. It makes me feel like maybe I'm really not the pitiful, lovetorn, fool like I think I am.

Hey oh Confused concerned one...

I was just about to tell you I LOVE the 'fear that said it's prayers' quote, and then you said that...let's hear it for the mutual admiration society!

I don't think you are anything pitiful or foolish. I have said so many times, LOVE IS MAGIC. I believe it because I have seen it.

Hang in there!

Hugs,

Lynn

Lynn,
Ive seen the magic too, just wish it would come back though. :(

Looking for peace is like looking for a turtle with a moustache: You won't be able to find it. But when your heart is ready, peace will come looking for you. - Ajahn Chah

Turtles move remarkably slowly....

My thoughts to help you guys with the whole survivor mentality, and how you hope to change it, even when it seems like it takes forever (boy, that's confusing!  :D )

"A drop of water can erodde the mightiest of mountains over a thousand years."

"Since Mohammad wouldn't go to the mountain, the mountain went to Mohammad."

Yes, it seems we take FOREVER to come around, but we will eventually, especially with your help.

Peace and love (and I hope I didn't horn in on your thread!),

Scot

Scot - You and the guys are ALWAYS WELCOME! :)

A friend is one who knows all about you and likes you anyway. - Christi Mary Warner

Yeah!!!

Scot - you can bring your comments AND your wonderful writing - around ANY time!

Because she knows the worst thing about me and it's ok. It's like you know each other's secrets. Your deepest, darkest secrets. And then you're free to love each other completely and totally. Just no fear. So there's nothing you don't know about each other and it's ok. - As said by Quince (a character in Meet Joe Black) when asked how Quince knows that his wife loves him.

How about these five great ones that refer to change and courage:

"A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step"

"The longest road you will ever walk is the sacred journey from your head to your heart"

"It is never too late to be what you might have been"
- George Eliot

"There is a fine line between happiness and unhappiness. It is called courage. There is pain in staying the same, and pain in change. Choose the one that moves you forward."

"Though no one can make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending."

"If you don't know where you are going... you will probably end up somewhere else."

:p

We do not believe in ourselves until someone reveals that deep inside us is valuable, worth listening to, worthy of our trust, sacred to our touch. Once we believe in ourselves we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight or any experience that reveals the human spirit. - E.E. Cummings

Before you can see the rainbow, you must first survive the storm.

"The opposite of fear is love. Move away from fear toward love." Dave Lim

"There is no greater light than that light which emerges out of the greatest darkness."

From the Zohar, 13th century mystical text
