Well my friends - it's official - I have Prostate Cancer - Rads score of 4 - Gleason score of 7

it's been since April 2nd that this journey started - I went to a new urologist (my old one had retired) for a follow up on my incontinence issues (I was holding 143ml - which is quite an increase from the last scans - my PCP had taken me off of the Tamsulosin - he said I did not need it - that I had damaged my own bladder due to my work choices of holding it in for hours on end - same guy who told me I was going to end up with a permanent catheter (not that I'd ever had any problems getting urine out - my problem is with holding it in - which now makes perfect sense as to the "why")) - this new urologist was NOT happy with my PCP and put me back on the Tamsulosin - in going over my paperwork she saw that I had had 3 PSA tests done in the past 2 years and that there was a marked increase - especialy between the last 2 tests - she did the dreaded finger test and could feel a hard lump on the right side of my prostate (yes, I completely checked out because it's the most I've ever had a female talk to me while having a finger up my butt) - I had a 3D MRI done on my prostate on April 26th (Yes - my 52nd birthday) which showed a 1.2cm mass on the right side - On May 17th I had a biopsy done - on the 28th I had to go into my own patient portal to find the test results - finally got a call from a whole different Urology facility affiliated with my hospital on the 30th - I need to have a bone scan and a PET scan done before they will move forward with any kind of treatment plan (my insurance needs to approve these scans before they can even schedule them - and as of friday they have yet to approve them)

My wife is NOT taking this news well...

I am so sorry to hear of your diagnosis. I will be praying for you. If the insurance does not move quick on the approval, keep after them, sometimes that is necessary.

I'm deeply saddened to learn about your diagnosis, brother. This must be an incredibly difficult time for you and your wife. It sounds like you’ve been through a lot already with your health, and now this news adds even more stress.

I'm glad you have a new urologist who seems to be more proactive about your care. And It's frustrating that insurance approvals are delaying your scans, but hopefully, they'll come through soon so you can get started on a treatment plan.

Wishing you the best possible outcome and a smooth, successful treatment process.🫂🫂

Thank You guys - I was able to get the bone scan and CT scan scheduled for this Friday after finally getting insurance approval - I have a phone consultation with the new urologist they put in charge of my case on Thursday morning to go over his thoughts on moving forward - the very concerning thing from the biopsy is that it shows Cribriform pattern 4 and perineural invasion (basically meaning that there is a very high chance that it has already spread outside of the prostate - but the scans on Friday will prove whether it has or not)

wow Jeff thats not the news you wanna hear from any doctor im so sorry, sounds like your original doctor really screwed up taking you off the meds any paying attention to the PSA test results I've had 3 prostate biopsies because of high PSA results not fun but it had to be done all negative thankfully, I hope you get some kind of good news Friday, again im sorry the wife and you have to deal with this, BB

I hope that all goes well TJ

I myself am scheduled for HDR Brachytherapy surgery on the 25th ... and can't deny I'm a bit afraid.

Just wanted to give a quick update...

Yesterday I had the CT scan and the bone scans done - I already have the results from both back and they are both negative - now I can move forward with the surgeon for removal
