Hi! My name is Timothy and I currently live in Austin, Texas. Recently, I have come to understand that I was molested by a priest when I lived in Louisiana. It has been very difficult for me. I cannot remember much about what happened but as a gay man, it has totally sent my world into a spinning nightmare. I need someone to talk to about it and I'm 36 and very sweet and understanding. Please drop me a few lines....thanks.

Timothy welcome to Malesurvivor. I am sorry for the reason that you are here but am glad that you found us.

This site is full of the best bunch of guys it has ever been my privilege to know. We are like a family of brothers regardless of our backgrounds or preferences. There is a lot of compassion and support and no condemnation.

I encourage to you to lost listen and generally join us on this particular road to wellness. Go ahead and ask all you want. There are many gay brothers here who can let you know how they delt with a particular issue. For that matter the issues are the same whether you are gay or straight, or By. Our personal self was dirtied and we were made to feel guilty and full of shame and to keep it a secret.

Once again Tim welcom. I hail from Mississauga Ontario Canada myself.

Timothy - Welcome to the board! I am glad you are posting, asking questions and searching for answers. Mike has told you about the strong support and fellowship among the guys...I encourage you to share whatever you feel comfortable sharing.

You may want to use the "search" above (just below Post A Reply). There are archives of topics similar to what you are experiencing and asking about. You may want to read some of the articles on "Forum Home". There is an organization (S.N.A.P.) that may be of help to you in your area. I know there are several guys with "clergy abuse" here and we just had a retreat for clergy abuse survivors.

Again welcome on board!!

Howard

Hi Tim,

I'm a survivor of clergy abuse too and would be glad to speak with you in this forum or with private messages. The advice you've gotten already is great. This is a wonderful site and there's lots of healing possible here. And please do check out SNAP (Survivor's Network for those Abused by Priests) online at
www.snapnetwork.org. I'm gald you've found us now keep writing and reading.
