Here are some helpful quotes by great thinkers that I'm using in my recovery. If others also have found words that help them, I'd love to read them.

This last quote reminds me of what this board has done for me so far.

Fearful, Frantic thinking takes an enormous amount of energy and drains the creativity and motivation from our lives..........

You can create a momentum that will allow you to be and do what you truly value and care about.....

Passion, excitement and confidence are the important medicines that you need every day.....

It's not whether you get knocked down, its whether you get back up.

The problem with living in the past is there's no future in it.

Two step formula for handling stress: 1. Don't sweat the small stuff. 2. Remember that it's all small stuff.............

Losers look what they are going through. Winners look where they are going to.

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us, it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others"....Nelson Mandela.

The best way to predict your future is to create it. -unknown (at least to me)

Knowing others is Wisdom, knowing yourself is Enlightenment. -LaoTzu

Of course, the three in my signature line:

Behind an able man there are always other able men. Chinese Proverb

Do not protect yourself by a fence, but rather by your friends. Czech Proverb

Enjoy yourself. It's later than you think. Chinese Proverb

"One cannot reach the dawn, save by the path of night."

If I think I can't, I can't
If I think I can, I can

When we step out from the light of all we have known into the darkness of the unknown, one of two things will happen. We will either have something solid to stand on, or we will be given wings and taught to fly.

It is better that I am me, rather than who you want me to be.

There are greater forces at work in this world than those of evil." Gandalf in reply to Frodo, in the Mines of Moria, Fellowship of the Ring

Leosha,

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure...
Thank you for that quote. My therapist has that one on the wall where her clients almost have to see it when they enter and leave the office. I've never really thought about it before, but that quotation is particularly appropriate for us.

I would add this one - I forget the source:

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

I have no idea what a real good translation would be, but one of Antigone's replies to Creon in Sophocles' play "Antigone" has stuck with me all my life.

-- Not to join in hating, but to join in loving, I was born.

There's a quote from Dr. King that I used as my sig here for awhile.

--"(T)he end we seek is a society that can live with its conscience."

That one always has seemed so fitting here.

Thanks,

Joe
