I must admit that I envy people who can track the progression of their lives through photographs, through albums packed away in a dusty attic...

No one really cared enough to take photos of my family. I have some, unlabled, in a box somewhere. I don't know the year unless it's printed on the back. I don't know if a baby is myself or my sister unless I can recognize whether we are in our first or second apartment.

We never made a home video. We never got portraits taken. We never brought home school photographs or yearbooks. Our past only exists in our thoughts.

I don't even know if this child is me.

Josh:
Whoever the child is it it is quite simply a beatiful picture and shows the innocence of children.

What is important now Josh is to know yourself, not has you were forced to become but as you want to be in your own mind. Just be the best that you can be for yourself and not for others.

What you are is a truly remarkable young man who has shared the worst of his life with us and just wants to heal and be whole again.

So I say WELCOME BACK

Josh,

What a beautiful picture of a beautiful child.

I have some of those, too. I'm sorry that you can't identify yourself in the pictures that you have. What I do know, however, is that you've done a pretty good job of reaching back for the little boy that you were and sharing him with us.
That's the important thing, I think.
Is there anyone there, your uncle, perhaps, who could help you sort through some of those pictures that you said are in a box somewhere?
Pictures can be important to us and I would encourage you to see who could help with that.
I know that I missed an opportunity with my uncle..the only one left on that side of the family..to have him help me to identify the people in the photos that I've got.
Good luck with that,

David

Hi Josh,

It's scary to think what lay ahead for this innocent child shown in the picture.

Our family never documented its becoming either. Boy is this ever a case where the lack of action speaks volumes; what it's saying remains a mystery.

I grieve what was lost in the hyper-controlled environment in which I was raised. There was no room for spontaneity, and therefore no tendency or desire to memorialize it. It was all about doing, not being.

Sad.

Ron

Its a beautiful picture. Shows such innocence and desire to trust. Really quite moving!

Who would ever want to hurt or neglect a child?

Thanks for sharing that with us!

Aaron

I understand of that. We have few pictures in our family also, and I have no pictures of my younger brother, or memory of what he even looked as. I do not know who that is, the child in picture you post here, but it is very nice photo, is good to see a small child who is not already looking of fear or upset. Thank you to share of it here. I wish you well.

Josh, photos are a big help in knowing our life. I had boxes of them. But, since I am the last one to live in my family, I threw them all away. I felt no one would want them. Now, I want them.

I hope you can find some momentos of the happy moments in your life. If that baby is not you, it must be of someone who is your family. So you can love the little tyke as if he were you. And maybe it is you.

It is a beautiful little child--just as you were a beautiful child. Now, you are a fine young man. Let us hope life was really good for that baby.

Bob
