Hi

Firstly I would like to say what a great site this is and I welcome the work you are doing to help male survivors.

Now on to my problem, I'll warn you I like to be a challenge.

1. Is it possible for us Brits to join Malesurvivor?

2. Would there be any benefit to your organisation should we Brits decide to join?

3. Would there be any benefit, to us Brits if we do join? Would we be entitled to member packs etc?

I suppose for Brits you could/should read any nationality other than U.S.

Thanks again for a great site and you time in reading this post.

Mark S. ;)

I've been a member for a while, and although the discounts on the retreats etc are pretty much wiped out by the air fare :D the newsletter is good and the book by Hank Estrada is a very good one.

Maybe we do miss out a bit ? but we do get the full deal posted to our homes and I think it's worth it to fund the organization.

I believe that most of the UK ones are local and small. Although there are some very good ones.
But the SCOSAM Conference I attended last year in Birmingham seems to have dissapeared of the calender, which is a shame as they were creating a National organization. Perhap's I've fallen off their mailing list ?

I've just checked the SCOSAM and the NAMSAS sites and they haven't been updated for about 18 months, so I dont know what's happened to our national organizations at all.

Maybe International is the way to go, abuse knows no boundaries does it ?

Thanks mate.

Couldn't agree more, Abuse certainly doesn't know boundaries and it is a brilliant site/organisation. I definately want to join. Will I need a credit card? I've only got a switch debit card.

Lloydy is joining straight forward?

Mark S:

What Lloydy says is right on target. Of course I'm saying that from the U.S.

But you're both right, abuse knows no boundaries. (That's true in a lot of ways...) So advocacy & action on behalf of the abused must also know no boundaries against abuse.

IMNSHO Male Survivor is the organization with by far the best opportunity to unite & spread advocacy & action on behalf of & with male survivors around the world.

And if MS is to become more international, then our membership must also become more international. Otherwise we will have trouble knowing what's going on & what we can do beyond U.S. borders. We will also lack the funding from other countries necessary to carrying out our mission there.

I envision MS being able to help form male survivor groups, retreats, & conferences all around the world. Maybe I'm a dreamer, but it's a nice dream...

Mark, it would be my privilege to welcome you into membership in MS.

Like Lloydy said its well worth it. I already think so after just a couple of weeks.

I'm not sure if you can use a debit card or not. If you contact MS I'm sure they'll find a way to help you pay! ;)

Take Care Mark

Hi Mark:
You can email the MS/NOMSV treasurer, Walter deMilly at [email protected] to help you through the money issue for joining. Hope you come aboard to give Lloydy and the other Brits some company. Hey, if you beat the bushes, you may get something going on that side of the pond.

I used Visa Debit card.

Dear Mark S

First, thanks for the support!

Yes, we are very happy to have peple from other countries join. Off hand, I know we have members from Australia, Japan, Canada, and a few from UK. So you wouldn't be alone. You get membership packs, and all other membership benefits. These include discounts to conferences and retreats if you can get over here for them.

Rather than writing Walter de Milly (sorry, Ken), you should write Trisha Massa, our Administrator, at [email protected]. She takes care of getting the memberships done. But I think you probably can just register without added help from her. Try going to "Join MaleSurvivor" on the Home Page.

Welcome to MaleSurvivor!
