Nightmares are making a return (MAY TRIGGER!)

Hoo, boy. Sometimes, even WITH the drugs, sleep is hard because of nightmares. All of them mix up my abuse with current concerns. Some are so frigging symbolic (what make them nightmares are the emotions I remember - the images are hazy and Daliesque) they'd keep a Freudian analyst wealthy for a looooong time.

I hate them. Because most of all they're partof what the bastard left me. When will the stupid prick leave me the Hell alone?!

I'm sorry. I just needed to let that out.

Peace and love,

Scot

P.S. Oh, yeah, one other thing. I've tried the usual suspects, but what do you do when the nightmares won't go away and you've tried absolutely EVERYTHING to chase 'em out?

Believe it or not, what really works best--are you ready for this?

1) Get a blank notebook.

2) Keep that notebook and pen at bedside.

3) Write down as many dreams as you remember.

4) Pretend you are your own dream expert because in truth you are. It may take time to figure out what some of those symbols mean but you can do it.

5) Everyone's dream symbols are unique to them. Think of them that way and your dreams will contain treasures that may amaze you.

6) For a while, it may seem like you are actually having more nightmares. That's what can happen with the subconscious when we start to pay attention to it. But over time, things will settle down.

7) The mere act of writing down those dreams (good or bad) will help you feel in control.

8) I am serious--this really works!!!

9) And if you get the chance in a dream some night to do anything you want? Kick that perp where it hurts and say it's from Jasper!

Note: I said "dreams" because the chances are that in any given night, you are actually having a mix of both neutral dreams and actual nightmares.

Pleasant dreams (no kidding),

Jasper

Scot,

After some months of really not having any nightmares, I have been having them again in the last week or so. They do not seem to have the same ferocity as before, but are there, nonetheless.

I am not sure of what gets rid of them. I don't know that talking of them or writing them out takes away some of their power. But it would make sense, as that is the same things we do to deal with the abuses themself. I wish you good luck my friend. Please be good to yourself.

Leosha
