New MS Meeting in Los Angeles!

Hello, Survivors!

I'm pleased to announce that we have secured a meeting location for a meeting for male survivors in the Los Angeles area. We've been going for a couple of weeks now at my home and had a successful turnout of five men with our first try.

This meeting is for non-perpetrating survivors only.

The meetings are held every Sunday from 4:00 p.m. 'til 5:30 p.m. It is a peer-to-peer meeting and is not hosted by a therapist. It is organic and sort of free-flowing, altough there is a facilitaor and co-facilitator (me) to keep things running smoothly and to ensure that everyone gets a chance to speak who wants one.

There may be times when we go to dinner or movie or bowling, etc. to have some fun, too!

Dear Scotty,

re: your meetings.

Our admin department has asked that you make it very clear that these are not MS sponsored meetings.

Having said that, I know that everyone hopes that your group is a huge success.

Yes, please be aware that these meetings have nothing to do with Male Survivor, the organization. The words "male survivor" in this context refers to one who identifies as a male survivor.

I hope that clarifies any misconceptions, and I hope to see fellow male survivors there :)

It might seem like a minor point, but if you don't capitalize Male Survivor (name of the org) and refer to it as "men who survived csa" in lower case, it might reduce the confusion.

I think it is awesome that you are starting something like this. I am going to school out of state right now, but when I fly home for break I would really like to attend a meeting.
 
Ken, et al.,

I've edited the prior posts to help alleviate any confusion regarding my terminology of male survivors.

I will emphasize again that this meeting is a peer-to-peer support group that is NOT ASSOCIATED IN ANY WAY TO THE ORGANIZATION MALE SURVIVOR.
