For my lobbing work at the capital I wanted a eye catching hand out to get all the members of the Legislature thinking about child sexual abuse. When I saw Brian-Z photo I knew it was prefect for my words. I am making some 5x7 images to give out. I am also putting a small image of this on Gary-CDN and my letter about Recovering from sexual abuse. Just thought I would share this with all. Thanks Brian and Gary you have made my mission better. Hey I think this is great....
The bigger question is how can we inform children of the manipulation used by perpetrators. My god all we have to do is view the posts here. Everything from you are dead meat to you will be exposed yourself as wanting it, to the self loathing condition of being terrified as a growing man that others will find out and ostracize you for a culture you wish to be a part of.
In this area I think the legislators in our countries should be urged to have survivors tell their stories to children and youth. Not the gory details but the manipulation and cohersion as well as the classic " I am only giving you what you want and deserve". And to tell them how it affected their lives and continues to do so and the lives of others around them. This should be an integral part of the pressure.
You know what legislators are like. Their primary focus is on re-election and this topic is to visceral for most. They will get all indigmant and posture in front of the TV and, I am sorry to say, after the lights go down they will ultimately leap from this issue in the guise of commissioning an enquiry and a report. This report will be wrapped up in beauraucratic mumbo jumbo and nothing will come of it. Face it guys. Nothing ever does. I mean where is the indignation of the state for it's citizens in the mess with the Catholic Church. My god a diocese could go bankrupt and we cannot have that. Dont get me wrong, there are some dedicated people out there but they are lonely voices in the wind. Look at all the moral indignation at the murder of Matthew Sheppard. His only mistake was being in the wrong place at the right time. And the defence & I am sure many of our fellow North Americans blamed it on the fact that young Matthew hit upon one of his perpetrators. If this is the case, and I do not know for sure, what about every case where a so called straight male hits on a girl who is not interested. should she go out and get some friends and abuse him and leave him to die alone. I think the indignation would carry to the highes offices in our countries. Matthew merely wanted to return to his native state to study and his only crime was being gay. Let me ask!!! When was that ever a crime in this day and age.
sure the so called moral right thinks this but some of them have been abused too. I still rage at the system that does not change. How about the little boy or young man who cannot face the reality of his abuse and chooses to commit suicide. A permanent solution to a part time problem. Where are the legislators and the courts and the educational system then.Morally indignant and self righteous in camera and then what. It should be a fundamental reguirement of each and every class year that survivors speak about the methods used to keep them quiet and the effect that it had on them over the course of their lives. Unfortunately this, I am afraid, will not happen. Primarily because it makes too much sense and anyway professionals can do it better, or so the saying goes. Well I say: " In this we are professionals bvecause we have lived it". Sorry for the rant but you hit a nerve ending. I like the poster and the idea but I am terribly frustrated at the likely outcome. Real change comes from the top in a democratic society. it may take a revolution of sorts and that, as we know, starts at the bottom. And BROTHERS WE ARE THE BOTTOM CAUSE WE LIVE WITH IT EVERY DAY,
When will the light shine through.

What a coincidence. I was listening to my Les Miserables C D

From The Musical: Les Miserables
Music by: Boublil & Schonberg
Lyrics By:Herbert Kretzmer

"Do you hear the People sing?"

Do you hear the people sing,
Singing the songs of angy men?
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums,
There is a life about to start
when tomorow comes.

Will you join in our cursade?
Who will be strong and stand with me?
Beyond the baracade is there a world that you long to see?
Then Join in the fight that will give you the right to be free!

Chorus:
Do you hear the people sing,
Singing the song of angry men?
It is the music of a people who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart,
Echoes the beating of the drums,
There is a life about to start when tomorow comes!

Will you give all you can give so that our banner may advance?
Some will fall and some will live.
Will you stand up and take your chance?
The blood of the martyrs will water the meadows of France!

Chorus:

Do you hear the people sing,
Singing the song of angry men?
It is the music of a people who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart,
Echoes the beating of the drums,
There is a life about to start when tomorow comes!

The play continues

Then the Finale starts quitly and builds

Finale

Chorus:
Do you hear the people sing
Lost in the valley of the night?
It is the music of a people
Who are climbing to the light.

For the wretched of the earth
There is a flame that never dies.
Even the darkest night will end
And the sun will rise.

They will live again in freedom
In the garden of the Lord.
They will walk behind the plough-share,
They will put away the sword.
The chain will be broken
And all men will have their reward.

Will you join in our crusade?
Who will be strong and stand with me?
Somewhere beyond the barricade
Is there a world you long to see?
Do you hear the people sing?
Say, do you hear the distant drums?
It is the future that they bring
When tomorrow comes!

Will you join in our crusade?
Who will be strong and stand with me?
Somewhere beyond the barricade
Is there a world you long to see?
Do you hear the people sing?
Say, do you hear the distant drums?
It is the future that they bring
When tomorrow comes...
Tomorrow comes!

When I saw the handout that you are proposing I was wondering where I could get copies. The Wyoming legislature is in session here in town .... and the Colorado Legislature is also in session in Denver. Denver 100 miles away. If you can send me what you have I would be happy to pass them out at both legislatures and tell them my experiences with S A.

Yes Muldoon

I will join in your crusade!

John

I have no intention of standing on the side. Can you send me anything with that picture and I will make sure that each and every member of parliament gets a pesonal copy including our Prime Minister. I am so ready for this.
ANOTHER THING. WHEN PERPETRATORS ARE FINALLY SENT OFF FOR INCARCERATION WHY DOES OUR GODDAMNED TAX MONEY PAY ADDITIONALLY TO KEEP THEM IN ISOLATION FROM THE GENERAL PRISON POPULATION. I SAY THE ONLY RESTRICTION IS THAT THE GENERAL POPULATION KEEP THE ASSHOLE ALIVE SO HE CAN SPEND THE REST OF HIS DAYS FEELING WHAT HE HAS DONE TO OTHERS.
NOW THAT WOULD BE REAL JUSTICE. IN THIS CASE VENGENANCE IS MINE (MINE BEING US)

I am somewhat hesitant to post this......

Muldoon, I think your campaign is a courageous, and worthwhile thing to do, and I applaud your efforts. But I'm concerned that we as survivors may use something like this as a means of addressing our issues without actually working on them. In other words a coping mechanism. It's so much easier to fight other battles then your own. I'm NOT saying that you shouldn't continue in what your doing, far from it. Just make sure your needs are being met too.

Good luck and you DO have my support in this.

Brian

Men I just so ditto & amen what you're saying!

Muldoon, I think what you're doing is great, and I think it's great that others are willing to do the same. Count me in that number for sure.

Brian has a good point, and I'm saying this to myself, as a Caretaker-type, more than anyone else. I know that helping others recover and fighting to prevent CSA can be very healing for me. I also know it can be draining, even triggering, and if I overdo it and don't work on my own recovery, I can suffer for it.

So I go into battle, but not without armor...

I miss my friend Michael as well.

I'll print that powerful poster and make sure it gets seel over here as well.

Dave

Thanks guy for all your words . I am back home now safe on top of the ridge after my 36 hours in the city. There are so many triggers and temps to act out in the city it takes all my energy to stay on the road to recovery. Did have a good 2 days at the capital but I will post on that later.
Brian such words of wisdom from you.
But Im concerned that we as survivors may use something like this as a means of addressing our issues without actually working on them. In other words a coping mechanism. Its so much easier to fight other battles then your own.
I am so quilty of this through out my life. I will keep your words with me these next few months.
The photo is HOSTed at Brian's web site. I don,t know what would be the best way for you guys to get it. It is a file that can be sent over the email. Brian can you help us with this.

A new quote for me.

Thanks Brian that helps a lot. OK guys you can save and download from the URL that Brian made for us . He made a big poster with links that can be emailed ,another is just the file that you can download and save on youir hard drive, I think I will use the poster to e -mail all my state legislature and congressman in DC. Thanks again Brian Muldoon

your welcome,

I think it would better if you sent the .jpg and not the .pdf through email, it has my url on it, and I don't what to use that site for lobbying over the internet.

Brian

Brian and Muldoon, you have something good, powerful and, hopefully, effective here.

Muldoon, do have have the message you use in your handouts somewhere here. I think it would be great to have an idea of the information legislators need to know.

Any ideas anyone on the info we need to use. I think I can get some brochure type things printed here for Wisconsin at a very good price, Color is expensive though. The emal idea is a good one. But I still think something in the hand is important.

Fred posted a graphic the first day or two of the new site. It was a pair of boys jeans laying in the dirt. It was too painful for some so he removed it. It is powerful though. The lilttle guy on the homepage is also powerful. Several things Brian has elsewhere on this site are WOW's too.

Thanks again guys.

Bob

Bob you are right that something printed will get their eye more than e-mail. I will get Gary's and my letter with the photo in the cornor and repost it all . I just got done printing up the letter on my inkjet printer. It took some time but it looks realy sharp. Give me a day to get it all togeather in a new post. Great to hear you Guys want to do things for change. Muldoon
