i am thinking of doing what i like for a career -

i have mentioned dance -

but i think - evidently from my photo journals that perhaps photography might make a happier career -

i am thinking about going to a bookstore to see
if there are any books that completely describe the start of a carreer as such -

i have no idea where to begin in terms of who do i call first - what do i do?

i have a lot of photographs -

but i need to think about where to start -

will go to the book shop

Hi Mark - Maybe try visiting a photo gallery or art gallery, talk to the owner or manager. Straight to the source might be the most direct route to getting an idea on how to get started and, more importantly, what is involved. You might also have some luck with local newspapers who are looking for free-lance photographers. Either way, good luck. Like what you do; Do what you like.
Peace - John

Mark,

Employers will want to see what you can do, so do you have a portfolio yet? If not, I would develop one that shows you as a versatile and creative photographer able to work in different situations, light conditions and so on.

There must be websites about how to assemble a good portfolio, though I personally don't know of one.

Good luck!

thanks guys -

i went out for and sat to think a little -

and relized i have been great at achieving creative goals - the whole money thing -

though - if i emerse my self in most any 'goal' i tend to do a 'complete' job -

it is just that the photos seems to really give to me -

i can budget well - i can live within that -

but in the past two years - i have learned to have fun - which - was new

the moderation thing - and now regearing to
think on making my business world
something i like - it's weird it shouldn't be so
oddly

i guess it's like a cold pool - once i get the hang of it - it might be a momentum thing -
and might get easier -

i dunno it feels no so good now -

Anything worth doing is worth doing right!

If you can take good photos, you won't be out of work. And photography can be ridiculously lucrative. I say, if you really like it and are confident that you're good at it, then go for it.

i was always amazed as a kid how some people enjoyed life -

and i felt like nails scraping on concrete insides -i kind of broke - and got happier -

but now the old idea is coming back -

utter maturity - knowing that i am selling
the only sacred in me i know -

thanks melliferal

markgreyblue:

I have worked with professional photographers for many years as an art director. and from what i've seen the best way to get started and learn the business is as an assistant to a successful photographer. you might try the internet and do a search for photographers in your area, and also might try looklng at some professional photography magazines to help spark some ideas.
good luck and i hope you find your dream.
