Well it finally happened!

On the season finale of "Everybody Loves Raymond" last night, Marie Barone could not hold her peace & spoke up at her son Robert's wedding.

After the ceremony, the mother of the bride Amy took Marie aside and told her she did not do what was best for Robert or Amy, but just what made her
feel good & got her attention. Then she said,
"Marie, you are what is called a narcissist!"

Raymond (also Marie's son) heard this & took Amy's mother aside as tho to rebuke her but said:
"No one's ever said that to her before! You're cool!"

I had never watched "Everybody Loves Raymond" until after I began recall of & recovery from my SA. My wife got me into it becuz I needed some laughter and the show is about an Italian family (I am Italian-American; so is Ray Romano). I was immediately drawn to the humorously portrayed interactions of this very dysfunctional family. Particularly to Marie Barone of whom I said to my wife the first time I watched it: "She's just like
my mother. She's a narcissist!"

These couple of years of being able to kinda watch
my narcissistic mother on TV & laugh at her & all the weird family interactions has played a part in my healing.

It was good to finally hear someone on the show label Marie Barone for what she is (as excellently
portrayed by Doris Roberts).

Just as I have labeled my mother.

Narcissism & narcissistic personality disorder is a very hurtful & deadly dysfunction that often leads to SA. I'm glad it's making national headlines even on a comedy. It may actually have more impact there.

Sure has impacted me.

Thanks Raymond! I love you, man!
